Better Job management (gray "everyone" row)

Recommended Posts

At the moment we can use the gray row (Everyone) on the job UI to just check or uncheck everyone at once. my suggestion would be:

Check/Mixed/Uncheck (similar to storage compactor) as a presetting/default for future Dupes

  • At the start every field is default checked, every printed Dupe starts with all fields/jobs checked
  • Many like to have one Dupe for specific jobs so they can uncheck all, than check the individual Dupe (gray row shows "mixed") and all newly printed Dupes start with this field unchecked
  • Some jobs are not needed at all for some player (like combat to keep all the creatures alive) or in the later game (research is done), so unchecking in the gray row (everyone) defaults every new Dupe to start with this job unchecked

A very little change in game, so much more comfort in gameplay ^^

i read it, but it's a whole complete different system to implement and more loopes for the player, where the slight change i suggested uses ingame mechanic with ingame UI.. so it would be a start leading to your idea (which i like btw ^^)

I believe there needs to be a secondary system of some kind, just not sure of the answer. Saved profiles could work, but then they become a menu management challenge. Changing defaults could work as well, but so could having a screen pop up after you select the dupe where you check/uncheck before they are printed.

I'd almost want a way to prioritize the jobs themselves. Currently combat is the furthest left so I think it takes first priority. Would be nice if I could choose that and shift combat further down the list. Same with sweeping, which seems to take priority over everything if you set multiple things to 9..

For one I would like to see the checkmarks for rown and columns work correctly:
- blank when none are selected
- point for partly (ignoring where there are no boxes)
- checkmark for all selected
(This also goes for the storage compactor top-level)

For the new duplicants there could be a simple line for a 'default' that will be copied into new ones when printed.

Being able to manually sort chores per dupe might be interesting, but could be overwhelming...
