Round 2 – 10 Not so silly anymore :D

First of all, thank for reading my tread, Again.

Ok so after my lengthy hours of training with this game (cue rocky’s eye of the tiger)

I’m starting to reach the illumination, no… I don’t mean the ceiling light, I mean I’ve become more fluent on the gameplay and I learned a thing of two in this game, which I see with a lot of potential BUT, butt? But, I still find some things to be lacking; Call me impatient if you want , seing as the game is still in apha, but, hey! Progress is made through positive critic and feedback. :p

 

So here are another 10 silly suggestions, in what to ad and change, from yours truly:

 

1 - The Priority: - When everything is priority 9 nothing is priority 9- Easy and simple, we as players and humans in general tend to evolve our actions so as to make them do the same thing but with less effort, this is what I meant: The standard priority for all actions in game is 5 in a scale of 9, that means that dupes will consider everything below 5 pointless, my idea change the standard priority to 2 this lets you play with the priority list in an eassier way, as you won’t need to change every action’s priority to a lower than 5 every time you want to make a complex order of actions.

You can also ad an option that lets you choose your stadar priority of each action: dig 3, mop 8, decons. 9… (forever)

 

2Protocols: -Today is Monday so we use the red schedule, tomorrow the blue one – what about Wednesday? - We don’t talk about Wednesday. - My idea make a hud besides the alert button that lets you choose between 3/5 tabs/slots, each slot is an independent priority list with certain actions. This is meant to create a way for people with a lot of pending actions organize better their collony for exemple: Slot 1 (named Digging) – the player has queued all the space he/she want to mine. Slot2 (Building) -the builings he/she want to build… Slot 3 (alert) – where he/she can decide on what should all the dupes do in the need of using red alert.

This way the players can change the queued actions from slot to slot and still have them all, but without the caos of having to manage 6 dupes doing 1000 things with different priorities all at the same time.

A thing I would use it for sure is for making a tab/slot called fuel, this would make all appear only the queued actions saved so as to give fuell to all generators, filters and plants, and then select another so dupes would do what I want instead of going to deliver water to algae every 5 GODDAM SECONDS… shessh!

 

3 – Farming: -Are you telling me that algae in here are effervescent? What are they made of, really? Where I come from plants do an interesting thing called “Grow”, yes grow, not actually disappear, were is the principle of mass conservation? I think we left it on the other side of the printing pod. D:

No, actually what I meant to say is that thing like the algae terrarium shouldn’t need a constant supply off algae, having in mind that what we do is let a plant do fotosintesis and we take care of it, "ergo" the only logic result is that in a favorable environment the plant, algae, should grow Adding algae to the total, no destroying it. The same goes for decorative plants, they should grow or at least give a seed from time to time.

 

4- I’m Nuuucleaarrr: - It’s called Nucular, sir, Nucular – Sooo we have interesting minerals with interesting names, why not make them fuel for a high tier generator that outputs Steam (using water or other liquids [Liquid C02?] as coolant) and produces an area of radiation (a new danger [with it’s own filter] that sloooowly kills dupes). This would add an interesting source of energy, a new way to make players use the termic regulation items, a new system and an excuse for dupes to die in slow, painful and radioactive agony. :) ( I need help)

 

5- Soilent green*: -Soylent green is made of people!! PEOPLE!!! - Oh so we are short on food and we have 1 to many people... oh Jeff nice timing, can you com with me for a sec? It won’t take too long… (Jeff was never seen again)

Okay, dupes are hungry, some died, why not... you know… eat them? You could be a savage and rip and tear the flesh with your bare teeth, but, we area highly civilized cannibalistic society, so we prefer to turn the body of you friend into and heroic source of tasty... tasty! Soilent Green* rations.

We sacrifice the stress of a dupe, the body of a dead for the good of the colony. And they even come in different flavors too: Heroic sacrifice strawberry, desperate murder mint and Sadistic treason watermelon.

* (May contain traces of bones and teeth.)

 

6- Stress relief: - Have you tried yoga? - Game tables, Arcades, discos, Radios, rocking chairs ad books, everything is good so as to add a little variety to de-streess dupes, you could even add preferences to each dupe so as to decide what thing makes them de-stresses them the most.

 

7- Stress Reponses: - We are doomed, DOOOMED I SAY!!!!! - So I came up with some stress response that I think could be funny to have in game:

  • Violent tendencies: Attacks other dupes.

  • Shut-down: Doesn't’ do anything, doesn’t move, I don’t think he even blinks...

  • Irrationality: Confuses priorities, a level 9 will be a level 1 for him and vice-versa.

  • Delusions: Will try to do actions in places that you can’t usually do those: attack a ghost, build something in mid air, eat imaginary food...

  • Megalomania: This dupe believes themmselves to be some kind of choose one, will create random queued actions, dictate what other dupes should do, change your priority list.

    (This one is a jerk)

     

8- Notes: - Build more pumps, Note enough pumps, Need more cheese… what? - Okay so we need something to make notes, marks or something on the map, because at least I like to have my base planed from day 1, where I want to do my generator room, my farm… let us do something like draw, mark or comment on the map for future cicles and playing sessions; or even better, let us do som maps or architect blueprints, a new tab that lets you “create” buildings at least visual representations , just to see how the base would look like that way.

 

9- The ruler: - Could someone bring me a ruler please, - Ruh-Aler? - Never mind… - Please I need this, something that says how many blocks you are selecting, something as simple as a 2X3 (2 tiles high, 3 wide) this would help a lot at the time of planing, constructing and making symmetrical rooms (for the perfectionist players like me). I hate it whe I need to coundt manually evry god damm tile in the base so as to plan it. D:

 

10- The Valve effect: -Need… More… Hats… NNHGGG!!! - Give me a hat, a skin or something to put on my dupes and customize them, and I'll love you forever, seriously. Something as easy as a wardrobe item in decoration to change each dupes clothes and give them a fancy lil hat, that’s all I ask (for now hehehe).

Yes but it's still a lot of visual noise, and at the end, too many things selected in the map and to many priority numbers makes computers go slow ( at least mine [and it's not a bad one]) :S

So as people say, the simpler, the better.

Also water  tanks, to store the water in certain areas, like besides an algae terrarium.

that would shorten the distance the dupes need to get water, adn would make the collony a  lot more efficient.

 

Juts figured taht out.

all great suggestions. I especially liked the build ruler idea.  There is a defunct key control in options that looks like it was intended to help you build things in a straight line but I couldn't get it to work.  I hate when I drag a pipe across the screen only to have it zigzag everywhere.

Care to comment on my similar suggestions?

Totally agree. Give us some fissile materials to work with (I've seen radium in the paint menu) Uranium (both) and Plutonium please.

I also would like that the reactor must be build in phases/modules that require a rather big installation. (the core itself, heat exchanger, coolant input (water/sodium) steam output and turbine(s)) all wrapped in properly (cement? lead?) insulation tiles.

This one is a must!

That is a great idea, this way you can create your own  nuclear plant from sratch: coolant pipes, exaust, cores, protective barriers...There would be as many different systems as there are players, and at the end it would be a thrilling experience.

juust imagine it as a late game research for where yoyu have almost everything covered an you don't feel pressured ot arrased by the need of resources; you could build this and ad the risk, the thrill and the soo desired energy to build your utopia... Nice....

 

Also this openw the path to a lot of possible future updates: nuclear gear, weaponds, disasters,  new enemies drawn to the radiation, maybe a way to open a Rift through time-space to return home or whatever the hell the devs create in their madness. :D
