Targa_X Posted March 4, 2017 Share Posted March 4, 2017 With temperature and heat transfer being a thing in the game, the player needs some way of controlling what materials are used to build things. Currently, if you set a storage compactor to "disabled", dupes will still take materials from it. At this time, the only way to effectively control what materials are used to build things is to carefully micromanage your storage compactors, and to keep them all behind lockable airlock doors, or wall them in. Additionally, if my dupes are digging a tunnel through, for example, igneous rock, so I choose that material to build a ladder out of, rather than use what's on the floor, they run all the way back to the base to grab it out of storage compactors more than half the time. The game code should select the available material closest to the construction job, rather than closest to the dupe (or however it's selecting where to get the material now).
