Abyssalite as a building material to exploit its insulative properties

Recommended Posts

Since Abyssalite is completely non-conductive, it would make sense to use it as a building material for walls and doors in order to manage heat. We could then have crops that have insane heat demands (-200C or 2000C), whilst being able to have the farm right next to an existing base. It would obviously not be usable for mesh or gas permeable tiles, since any gas would conduct the heat.

Maybe also give it a decor bonus, since it looks nice.

Though with that said, and with the ease of availability of abyssalite, wouldn't the high tier insulating factors from research then be obsolete? I propose instead that we have Abyssalite as one of the available materials used for pipes, or the highest tier of insulation possible. Conducting, and non-conducting pipes are both very useful.

Having this material as tile material is awfully tempting, but there is a big balancing problem. If it would retain its natural properties - then it would be a huge help for a lot of different tasks.

On the other hand having its properties reduced would nullify its usefulness - since we already have insulated tile.

But overall I think devs should include all feasible materials as tiles
