Awesome Stream - Thoughts?

Yeah, I also love the fact that it appears the game will punish you if you aren't concentrating. :) Lot's to think about and get sorted or they die, horribly.

The art and animations are also extremely endearing, makes losing duplicants even worse.

So what i saw : 

-new animations! New water ! 

-plants grow naturally (atleast at the start) 

-first oxygen maker now uses algae. I imagine having to use rocks was hardly sustainable and we will have a way to produce algae. 

-lots of new character development with traits, new things dupes can do (fart) .

-now everything in the world has a decor value, so it will get hardcore when building things since you now have to hide the cables, battery etc.. 

-improved control : new priority system with numbers, possibility of direct control (no alternative i think, since the world can get really dangerous in certain area having a way to stop a duplicant from going in an area with no o2 was needed. 

-exosuits for i guess heat protection. Don't know how it will work, if we will have to assign zones where dupes can't go without one or something. 

-new research system, you need to build "science pack". The green ones seem to only cost time, but i guess that for other ones you will need advanced machines and other resources.

-storage compactors seem to not be able to contain a huge amount of debris. 

-new order options with harvest and some other. 

Overall they progressed a lot, especially on the mechanics (there  do not seem to have a lot of new buildings added) so the game release seem quite not planed for early 2017 ^^ 

but what saddened me is that they do not seem convinced to release early access even this month :@

I think they added that "move to" option while a duplicant is asleep? I don't remember they doing this in previous streams. Seems interesting in case of a duplicant falling asleep somewhere with low O2... They wouldn't sufocate while sleeping!

And in this stream when Jamie built the beds for the duplicants, their "rooms" had a height that seemed taller than a door can reach. So, when building bedrooms we have to keep in mind the exact height of a door so you can isolate it? Or maybe one possible solution is just build some tiles filling the empty space above the placed door...

 

Yeah, although I'm not sure if the option to move them is always there or only when they are sleeping? I don't think they had a choice to add it though, otherwise certain duplicant deaths could become annoying, causing frustration and losing some of the fun.

seems like the game will not be really easy, and they might want you to die of your incompetence instead of your dupe's ^^

oh and there are airlock! meaning you can build a sas between "the outside" and your base! or use them to not have to oxygenate parts of your base like the battery room!

Also, the "insulation" research have blocks that do not transmit heat seems like,  making you able to have fresh rooms even in a super hot biome!

Looks fantastic. I can't wait to see what guys at Klei will do with the management sim genre. There is so much potential there and it seems they go with very complex mechanics, which makes me happy. 

I am a bit disappointment there is still no set date about the early access release, though at the time I appreciate that they take time to release a good EA game.
