Several Small Requests

So, I'd hate to be that guy that wants all DST content in DS. I don't, but there are some minor things that are in DST that I would like to see in DS.

First, the new map icons for the gold boulder, burnt trees and tree stumps. It might seem like something very small, but I did have some moments where they would've been usefull. Some examples:

I played as Wigfrid, and I needed her helmet, which requires gold. I was extremely unlucky with the tumbleweeds, so I didn't get any trinkets to give to the pig king. I did know there were some boulders with gold in them left, but I didn't know where. Again, as unlucky as I was, the mountains biome and the mosaic biome where on completely different parts of the world, and I was in the middle. It would have saved me several days of travelling if I knew which boulders had gold in them.

I've had several worlds where I accidentally started a forest fire, and had to flee to survive. One forest in particular was very big, and only partially burned down. I was quite new back then, and didn't know of the uses of charcoal. When I learnt about the uses of it, I had completely forgotten the specific location of the burnt trees. The burnt tree icon would have been usefull. Now of course, it won't have as much use now as it would've back then, but I'm sure other people will find it usefull.

As for tree stumps, this is more an annoyance to me than it is to others. I hate finding undug tree stumps in DST, and proceed to dig them up as soon as possible. I hate to find undug tree stumps in DS even more, because that means it could've only been me who didn't dig it up. I understand that this request is a bit naggy, but I would like you to consider.

 

My second request is to add the cave clock system from DST in DS. There have been countless of times that I didn't know how late it was, or if there was any daylight at the point where I was standing so I could save durability on my torch/lantern. I know that the always on status mod displays it as well, but I would like to see it in the 'vanilla' game anyway.

 

My third request is a very simple one. In some strings are typos. One in particular bothered me. Wickerbottom's line when inspecting a pengull. "What a classy bird" without a '.'. There are more lines where this seems to be missing, but I only can remember this one.

 

[Expansion]

There are some set pieces in DST, such as what I call the bunny village in the caves that I would like to see in DS. This, amongst other things, makes the world feel more alive.

I don't really know how hard it is to code set pieces, but I'm sure you guys can do this.

 

This one is really nit-picky, I'm fully aware of this. The direction of the Compass. In DS, when it is in the 'regular' camera angle, it says North-East, but in DST, it says North. It would make more sense (at least to me) to have the Solo-game Compass say North when it is in the regular position.

 

I may expand this list further, but these are my minor requests. I hope you consider putting these in the game.

If you're not opposed to it and have the resources create a fire farm with a pig house and bunny hut. Any extra meats, bunny puffs and skins can be given to the pig king for gold.

Surley that doesn't adress the true problem that she's referring to though?

Is it odd that I prefer the original one? I find it more clear what things I have made already, with the red-blue-green colours.

I just want it to scroll faster with mouse wheel and smaller icons to fine thing faster!

They're focusing on bugs for Shipwrecked and DST, I don't think they will do anything for bugs or update for DS Vanilla or ROG because you can't even report bugs for those games anymore.

Like you said just get mods like Always On/Combined Status. As for bunny villages, you can make them. I put two bunny hutches around the cave entrances to deal with the batilisks. As for stumps, after the first 60-80 trees you cut down and destump, just keep the pinecones and create a tree farm. Plant all the cones close then use the old bell twice and the trees will be stumped. Will hardly ever have to chop and shovel up stumps again. At 400 days -- I have 2 full chests of old bells, recently bearger has destroyed 3 of my tree farms (no treeguards showed up until the 3rd farm) and his AOE attack destumps them for me too. All I have to do is collect and plant the pinecones again.

I know that it might be a long while (if ever) 'till an update for DS, but, ya know, I have hope that one might come relatively soon. That hope might be crushed by someone with good intel...

I'm not that fond of using Always on Status. Not that it's a bad mod, of course. But I just don't like the feeling of knowing more than I should. That's part of the game for me, and makes me go paranoid at some points.

I suppose you're right about the bunny hutches, but I just find that there is a lack of set pieces in the caves layer.

About the stumps, I meant the fact that they don't have an icon on the map, which they do have in DST. I'm fairly familiar with tree farming now, it's just the fact that you don't have any way of telling what trees still need to be dug. It's a small and very, very minor, but would make me happy were it added. Same goes for the other afore mentiond icons.

 Also, the bell recipe for some reason is gone for me, I've already reported this, but couldn't be fixed.

 

Quite stupid that I didn't notice this before, but I think this thread is in the wrong section, isn't it?
