Add "Wooden Thing" make game harder?

Hi :)

I have the following idea:

- add wooden thing and the other things to the world generation, guarded by monsters of course.
- after all things are gathered and the teleportato is constructed,  don't generate a new world,  but make the existing world a bit harder.
e.g spawn all over the world some enemies and stuff like this.
- and destroy teleportato and scatter the things again all over the world.

That way you don't loose your base and all the stuff you achieved so far and it will get exciting again.
(At least if you started at default settings or easier, after some time the world lacks enemies)

Because at the moment the DST lacks some long time motivation. There is no higher goal to achieve, like it is in DS with maxwell.

Is anyone here willing to make such a mod?
If not, could you tell me how to add those things to the worldgeneration (beta compatible)? And how to do the other stuff? At the moment I have no clue how to achieve anything from that =/

They said they are preparing stuff for late game, making the game harder and more interesting the longer the world lasts. But nothing has been confirmed yet

ok, thanks to the Advanced World Generation Mod , I already figured out how to add teleportato stuff to the world generation :)
And I'm also able to mod the "OnActivate" function from the teleportato.

So what ideas do you have, could happen when we activate it?

Ok, so for me, making the game more challenging isn't especially attractive, or a purpose. But as a way to obtain something, why not ?

The reason of the use of the teleportato in classic DS is to - start again - having to explore again - renew things not renewable/hard to renew. The first two are not possible, the last could be.

 

I guess that all the stuff like gears could be renewable by the simple activation of the teleportato. Tentacle could appears again this way too (challenge and help at the same time). Why not adding some way to obtain hard to renew positive items too ?

Fireflies, mandrakes spawning across the world ?

Some thulecite or rares gems, either spawning when you activate teleportato, either spawning in a chest guarded by some monsters ?

Yes renew things is a good idea. I think I will use the World Resource Regeneration Mod to achieve this... I will try to not use code from this, but add the regnerate mod as a requirement...

Other ideas so far:
- Spawn Ancient Pseudoscience Station. If playing without caves, I think this is an interesting alternative?
- Regenerate Health and/or Sanity and/or Hunger of players near the Teleportato
- Do the things above at other location, destroy teleportato and spawn the parts of it at their previous location again, now guarded by more monsters. Now you can collect and build it again.. e.g to again renew everything and have new challenge with more enemies...  (I don't know if it is possible to spawn the parts at another location without regenerate the whole world =/ )

Of course I can make all of this optionally and also together choosable.

Does anyone know how to spawn enemies at a location that way, that they will defend this position?
And is it possible to make different kinds of enemies not attack each other? (With modding "combat" component it is of course possible, but maybe there is another simpler way? )

I suppose you could achieve the "not attacking each other" by tag ? If i'm not wrong, it's because, let say, the chesspiece have the tag "chess" they aren't fighting each other. Same with beefaloo : if you wear the hat, you have the tag beefaloo and they ignore you as a target.

But (for me at least), enemies fighting each others are a great part of the game, so it would be better if only the one you spawn ignore each others, and not all the enemies in the world. Let say you want to have hound and bishop defending a thing piece, i understand you want them to not attack each others, but if i lead an hound attack on classic chess piece, i want them to fight each other.

I don't know if it's possible (probably not by tag, except if you could tag some enemies and not all ?)

yes, only the ones that spawns ;)
I will look into the tags, thanks. And if it is too difficult maybe I will stay with one class of enemies...

The ancient station and the regeneration of players is easy to do and I know how to do it.
The regenration of world and spawning new enimes is more difficult and at the moment I don't know if I'm able to do this. But we wil see :)
