Day-night cycle length

So, I might be bringing up something that could potentially be quite a huge change in the game; longer days. Not just longer day time, but longer day-night cycle. Current day-night cycle in the game lasts 8 minutes with 16 segments and honestly, that is quite short. When in multiplayer in particular, you do basebwork and all of that stuff, the time of the day becomes irrelevant partially due to how short everything is. If day, dusk and night were to become longer, we would need to dedicate more time for resources to survive the night. It would become something to prepare for more even later on in the game if say campfire fuel and lantern fuel were left the same (though torch fuel I think would need to be extended just a bit). I'd propose having day-night cycle lengths 24 minutes long (x3 longer) with each segment being 1 minute long, so that would equate to 24 segments in the clock instead of 16. This would be a bit more consistent with our real time too, just that technically hours would be minutes and minutes would be seconds. I think I tried it once. What I'm curious about though is how Klei landed to the decision of each day being 16 segments and each segment being 30 seconds long, making day-night cycles 8 minutes long. It would make sense if it was 24 segments and if the cycles were 24 minutes, though the 16 segments seem like quite a random thing.

Seasons would also be lengthened by three times if you did this... plus even if you made the seasons 3x less days to account for that, there's often not a whole lot to do during the night, so that'd mean sitting around three times longer at once during those periods.

 

This seems like the kind of thing suited for a mod, not a game change. If nothing else, it'd be a really big change to core game mechanics.
