calculuschild
I'm trying to host a LAN offline game, but when I go to create a world and scroll down to "Server Mode" it says "online," and clicking it doesn't change to LAN like it used to. If I try to do it with my XBOX controller it does a clicking sound like when you get to the end of the list of selections, and still doesn't change. So if I'm in offline mode it says something like "there was trouble starting your server." Well, it's because its in online mode and it won't let me change to LAN. Am I just dumb and missing a step or is this a bug? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/68050-cant-host-a-lan-game/ Share on other sites
GuyNamedChris
Preeeety sure that "Local Only" button has something to do with it. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/68050-cant-host-a-lan-game/#findComment-781747 Share on other sites
calculuschild
@Chris1488 Yep... That button was not making any difference. But I fiddled around and maybe figured out a pattern. So it looks like there's a bug here: If I have an internet connection but choose to play offline anyway without signing in, hosting a game will automatically select "Local" and the other options are grayed out. This correctly puts the Server Mode into "Offline" for LAN play. If I don't have an internet connection, and it puts me in offline mode automatically because it can't connect to Klei servers, hosting a game will leave Public, Friends Only, Local, and Steam Group options all available (see my picture in the first post), but clicking "Local" does not change Server Mode to "Offline". So at least for me it looks like I have to still have an internet connection to play LAN and just intentionally choose not to sign in.
