Friendship Bracelet

Recommended Posts

One of Webber's text strings suggests he has a friendship bracelet, and I've seen people suggest it be added to the game. I think it should be utilized in a feature that links two characters in a way.

Each character would have a friendship bracelet of their own design, so when they make it they would require slightly different formulas. Each bracelet would require a number of grass and flowers, but each character would have a different third ingredient and appearance to their bracelet. (For example Willow's would require a torch and appear burned.)

Your own bracelet would do nothing for you, because you're supposed to exchange them. If you're wearing a bracelet of another character and you stand near someone playing that character you would have limited access to their perk. (For example if you were to wear Wilson's and be close to him you wouldn't grow a beard but every few days you would generate a portion of beard hair in your inventory.)

The Friendship update, I like it.

Here's a suggestion for having the character's bracelet and being nearby the character prefab/owner of them:

Wilson - Dark Magic Enthusiast - Wilson can heal others at the cost of his own life or the life of innocent critters

Willow - Pyromantic Insight - Increase sanity by being near fires

Wolfgang - Natural Leader - Scale damage up by a fixed amount when the Wolfgang is mighty

Wendy - Taunter - Pulls enemy aggro off of you and shoves it onto Abigail if she exists

Wx-78 - Reconstitution - Converts degraded food into suitable food quality for consumption (red->yellow, yellow->green)

Wickerbottom - Teacher - Able to prototype anything the Wickerbottom knows/has prototyped

Woodie - Productive - Increases wood chopping speed

Wes - Charming - Wes' party balloons grant sanity and will pop after giving too much sanity

Waxwell - Fragmented - A portion of damage taken goes directly to Waxwell's sanity pool instead of your health

Wigfrid - Trained Combat - Gives health and sanity on hit like Wigfrid has

Webber - Caring - Spiders won't attack a friend of a friend

And if they ever do add Shipwrecked:

Walani - Hang Ten - Any raft or boat will go at least as fast as Walani's surfboard.

Warly - Refined Tastes - Crockpot food will restore more stats than usual.

Wilbur - Four Leg Drive - Running speed upgrades to half the boost of Wilbur's sprint. (Does not stack with Walking Cane/Roads/Etc.)

Woodlegs - Treasure Hunt - As long as Woodlegs has his hat on, you can see the same hidden treasure spots he sees.

This seems like a really cool idea!

Questions:

  • Would both players need to be wearing corresponding bracelets to receive the buff or just one of them?
  • Would the bracelets be tied to specific players or just that player's character (if you get a Maxwell friendship bracelet from Player2 would it function while near ANY Maxwell or only near Player2)?
  • Would you have to equip them in some fashion, whether in an existing slot or as a limiting factor on how many you can have active?
  • Would you have to stay within a certain distance or just start off close to the other player to have the buff active (especially for any duration-based buffs)?

1) I'd imagine the person wanting the benefit would need to have the bracelet.

2) Most likely tied to a specific player instead of a prefab type due to the nature of friendship between people instead of a race.

3) Probably an inventory item that grants the bonuses passively to limit the number of bracelets one would want/could get.

4) I saw it as a radius thing wherein the bracelet holder needs to be within a radius for the bonuses to apply.
