another suggestion about summer

Recommended Posts

I think summer as it is now, forces players to stay at base most of the time, so summer should provide some bonuses to make players actually spend this time busy. I suggest few things:

1) Make trees infertile of spawning treeguards/poison birchnut trees so we can chop trees safely.

2) I like how shipwrecked's trawling yield the most during dry season, not to mention it also was the only season to get obsidian. Also, chance to find it is  highest in shallow water (where no waves are spawned), so you can trawl for it during nights too safely without worrying to repair your boat afterwards (because of waves you accidently would have hit).

I personally view trawl net as tumbleweed's equivalent in sw. So I think tumbleweed's chance table should change during summer to increase chances for useful items (gears, trinkets, gems), decrease for junk (petals, seeds, feathers, stingers) and also add some rare stuff which cant be / hard to be found during other seasons. That would be awesome to find walrus tusk (low chance though, something like 0,5-1%). I also suggest to add pig skins and bunny puffs (probably spider eggs too), so at least it is possible to repopulate pigs/bunnies if all/most of their houses in the world were destroyed (often a problem on old worlds). Probably cotton would be rarely found in tumbleweeds ( rare to point it would take few years to gather enough) used to craft desert clothing, such as Keffiyeh and the Thawb (might include steel wool) with very high overheating protection (~480 per item worn).

3) Buff cactus flowers. They are barely useful during other seasons, because they spoil fast and are only used to make flower salad (quick spoiling as well) and floral shirt (only useful during summer). I think certain amount of cactus flowers (like 8 or 10) could be crafted into dug cactus, which can be replanted to other place (probably restricted to grow on desert turf only). So then it would be worth collecting cactus flowers, because later you can plant dug cacti wherever you want and benefit from them, because they grow year-round.

Spoiler

(klei pls, make summer not boring already)
