Got a trident! Now what?

After  bunch of trawling I was psyched to nab one of these, but apparently it is only a powerful weapon when you're at sea? I'm not a great kiter even on land, and in a boat I'm terrible, so I tend to avoid fighting anything at sea if I can help it. Anyone know if you can use it to kite sharks from land?

@Rellimarual You can 2-shot swordfish and sea hounds with it (although there's a bug where the first time you use it, it doesn't have the right damage, so go and hit a jellyfish or something first), which pretty much bypasses kiting entirely (well, you have to kite out the first attack, but you can keep all your momentum for that and then just go in for the kill). Everything else is slower (whales, tiger shark) / does basically no damage (stink ray) / isn't worth attacking (ballphin). Using it from land, it's only as good as a spear, so don't do that.

@4zakken See the wiki page. Basically, trawling in deep water during hurricane or dry season is the way to go.

I got it trawling in deep water during the dry season. I've successfully used it to two- shot a single sea hound, so now it all makes sense to me. Fwiw, though I'm so bad at maritime kiting that sometimes even the whale hits me, so I'll give that a try next. Still its main advantage is that it's cool looking.
