SeventySeven
Shipwrecked lacks cool/practical flooring options. Most bases are limited to that rocky volcanic turf (can't remember its name) and wooden flooring. A few ideas I've had to increase variety are snakeskin rugs and thatch mats. Snakeskin rugs are essentially an equivalent to carpet requiring 1 plank and 1 snakeskin to craft. Thatch mats are crafted with 1 palm leaf per turf.Thatch mats give the player a slight buff of 20 overheating protection (as the wiki titles it) when stood on. Snakeskin rugs could possibly grant a small sanity buff, somewhere around 0.5-1 sanity/min, when stood on. Both turfs prevent lureplants from spawning eyes.I'll update this later with some mock-up patterns for the turfs when I get around to it. strangelestrange
A snakeskin rug is a great idea. Could actually put my stack of snakeskins to use, seen as a single hat and outfit can pretty much last you a whole year. rezecib
I don't think the turfs need anything functional like you've described, but just some options for decorating the base and such would be nice. Thatch and snakeskin mesh nicely with the theme of the game. Thatch should take more than just 1 palm leaf though, it's pretty easy to accumulate lots of those-- maybe 4 per turf. Snakeskin, given the theme of water-resistance, could be resistant to flooding, though. I think something that helps with flooding is sorely needed right now. As such, it should be very expensive, say 10-20 snakeskin per tile. The idea being that you might protect a structure or two from puddles initially forming right under them, but you wouldn't be able to coat your whole base in it. And perhaps to nerf that a bit, allow puddles to grow on top of them, just not start right on them. If they actually give the passive heat resistance, then they should probably cost just as much if not more than you suggested.I like the idea of snakeskin rugs stopping/slowing water spread. Maybe have them have a 1/3 chance of blocking puddles from spreading and a 90% chance to prevent puddles from starting on top of them. As for the cost, I think 8-14 skin would be ideal. SmokyProgg
Thatch should require much more than 1 palm leaf, ESPECIALLY if it were to provide any sort of buff as you described.. but even if they required 20 palm leaves, having an infinite source of protection from heat like that sounds to be too much. It's only 20 points of heat protection which, according to the wiki, is only 1/3rd of the effect from a straw hat, which is not even enough to keep you alive on its own. On top of that, you'd have to stand on the turf to actually get the buff. But I do agree that it should cost more to craft. I hadn't thought that recipe through very thoroughly. Donax
I do like this, especially the snakeskin rug which would be a very nice thing to use all the snakeskin left of the snake-spider war which occurs every night near my camp. Clwnbaby
Already a topic for this one :http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/60340-suggestion-snake-skin-carpet/ way ahead of you buddy and its not OP as in this suggestion. While the game does lack turf selection, turf has never granted any sort of buff or perk in the past ( with exception to cobblestone and scaled flooring) and it shouldn't start now. The only perk there should be as stated in the already created thread and as rezecib mentioned it should prevent puddles from spawning on it given the waterproof nature of snakeskin already in use in the game but doesn't prevent puddles from spreading over it. LaDestitute
Yeah, there isn't much in the way of flooring for Shipwrecked. Some more options specifically would be nice, even if they're just mostly cosmetic flooring options.
