Suggestion: Animal Skeletons.

Recommended Posts

Something I have wanted in Don't Starve since it first came out in Early Access, but never saw, animal skeletons! These would be spawned whenever you kill an animal. I think they would add to the game in terms of looks and creepiness factor, also it wouldn't hurt to have other sources for bones. And turning a pig village into a pig graveyard would feel strangely satisfying. :wilson_sneaky:

Maybe only the land animals though. And not the tiny guys like Crabs or Rabbits. The stuff like Pigs, Apes and Merms. But not the Spiders or the Snakes. I think it's a cool idea, although it may be a bit too convient, and the fact that lots of mobs are being murdered even when not on screen, it probably wouldn't be the best idea to have skeletons. The game can lag a lot anyways.

Sure, there could be one type of skeleton for large land animals that yields bones and there could be a smaller version for the small animals that does not yield useful bones of the correct size.

Btw, that signature of yours, who is the 12th? An unreleased character?

Maybe you could sometimes catch fishbones in the trawl net. and refine them 2 fish > 3 bones? 1.5 bone per fish

Sure, there is all kinds of junk floating in the ocean so I suppose anything could drift into your trawl net, even bones attached to some carcasses that keeps them afloat.

The signature I made? The 12th refers to Charlie. Haha. Another person on the forum asked that question as well, saying it could not be Webber or Maxwell. That is why she is at the very end of the last row, as she is not truly playable.

Though it will seem weird with the four extra characters in the new DLC...

In the old days, when you killed an animal the bodies would slowly fade away. If it was like that now, it would make sense. I don´t know if it suits it now however.

Ah, would be awesome if they ever made Charlie a playable shadow monster, I would play the living daylights out of that. :wilson_sneaky:

Now that I recall, the whole dead animals leave skeletons was an idea that came up when Don't Starve the base game was still in Early Access. Clearly the idea was turned down for some reason, though I would like some way to make renewable bone shards.
