Anyways, he looks a helluva lot more like Luke "Beverly Hills 90210" Perry than he does a bloody volleyball, so if they were going to name him after anyone specific... Nah. It's just a matter of them wanting "W" names and there not being all that many choices. "Walter"/"Wally" sound a bit juvenile, "William" is boring and common, "Waldo" just has one association nowadays (and it's not a good one), and with not much else to choose from without raiding other parts of the world to try and find "W" names that won't make their English-speaking players go "Huh?"
