Install from flashdrive instead of from Steam?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I love this game -- bought it on both the Xbox and Steam -- and I want to buy my friend a copy but she lives in the middle of nowhere and doesn't have internet.

Is there a version available that I can download onto a flashdrive that she can then install on her home computer without needing an internet connection to complete the installation?

Please advise, thanks!

The good news is it turns out my friend got satellite internet hooked up since we talked last. Hello from bumf*ck rural Virginia!

The bad news is I didn't find this out until after I'd already bought and downloaded a copy (from JoeW's "direct or on humble store" link) instead of getting it through Steam like I would normally do. It seemed to install fine (unzipped a bunch of stuff, asked me for the game key, etc.) but now it won't start.

Not sure if I messed something up in the install or if it's just her computer (a monument to adware/bloatware/toolbars/so-called "free-to-play" games -- I've spent the past 2 hours uninstalling crap and am nowhere near done yet).

I've never had problems installing games via Steam -- if I set her up on Steam, is there any way I can exchange my Humble download for a Steam download?

Please advise, thanks! I really really want to get this working for her -- she just got out of the hospital after breaking her back and I told her that playing this game is like time travelling weeks into the future because it sucks you in and next time you look up you're like oh my god what am I doing with my life. She needs that kind of distraction right now.

OMG LOL so one of the "sentiment" drop-down options for the game gift message on Steam is "Buckle Up."

Considering that she'd be dead if she didn't that day (she usually doesn't, grr!), I had to pick that one.

Thanks so much for your prompt and super-helpful customer service. (On a Friday night, no less!)
