Making Steam Group Admin, Server Admin

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

For dedicated servers I know that you can add the KU id of the player that you want to assign as an admin into the adminlist.txt and restart server to promote him... I do not want it to be like that. As far as I remember in a topic in forums i saw that by adding some lines to your settings.ini file, you can manage making someone admin easily. So after adding and saving that line to settings.ini file, if you grant someone admin privileges in steam group he also automatically become game server admin... Can anyone tell me the method of this..

One of the dev was mentioning about this on a topic but now i could not find where was it.

Thanks.

Yes, in the server's settings.ini:

[network]

steam_group_id = your group ID

steam_group_admins = true

Then if you promote someone to an officer in your steam group (you have to press the star twice so they get a gold star) then they will have admin rights on the server.

EDIT: Nevermind.. I looked at the instructions again and relealized that I added the lines below in the wrong location. It's fixed now.

My dedicated server isn't associating with my steam group. I have added my steam group ID in the settings.ini file per the instructions I found here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=478597826

The relavent portion of my settings file now looks as follows:

  • bolded lines were added to the existing file
  • instead of the X's I've put my steam group ID

[sTEAM]

DISABLECLOUD = true
steam_group_id = XXXXXXX
steam_group_only = false

Any advise or help with this would be apprecaited. Thanks!
