Caves are soon but...

Hey guys,

I wanted to clarify this, as I answered this question on the Twitch chat after the stream.

So you will need to start two DST Dedicated servers : one for each world but you don't have to use two different machine. If you already have a computer running a dedicated server, you'll just have to start another one on the same computer. It will use another processor core and should not be slower than usual.

 

If that's the case, I have a question/suggestion: are we also going to have more server "slots" in the game's memory? as we currently have 5, and that means I can only host 2 ground+caves server with 1 free slot, or (when ruins are released) one full ground+caves+ruins server. 

 

And if we don't get more slots - can we get more slots?

I suppose that the slots for the cave will be "invisible" and not taken on the normal slot. If i remember well the discussion on the chat, you can't start a game only in cave, so there is probably no reason and no need to take a save slot for this. The cave server will probable be link to the "normal" server and you access the two by the same "slot".

Don't forget that Caves only work on dedicated server for now. So you don't have any slot limitation. When they will be usable directly in the client, we may add new slots. But as Lumina said, I think that the other worlds (caves and maybe ruins) won't be shown in the list.
