Critter79
Okay, do newly formed nests appear on your map? Or do you have to re-explore an area to make them appear there? I haven't encountered any yet and so was just wondering. Wiley
I assume they appear on your map when they are formed as grass does when it regrows Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/5759-question-about-spider-nests/#findComment-45833 Share on other sites
Critter79
I culled back a huge number of nests, leaving only a couple to become queens and repopulate. I'm hoping to be able to track them on the map. zaxvax
Spider queen spawns only on approach, distant areas are sort of frozen... So if you are not there spider plague will not spread out. If this is what you want to know. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/5759-question-about-spider-nests/#findComment-45870 Share on other sites
Critter79
Okay, that is partly what I was checking. Means they won't get out of control on me. I do know they tier up without visiting them so wasn't sure if they'd start expanding their territory on their own. zaxvax
Looks like it works this way: lvl 1 > lvl 2 > lvl 3 > lvl 1 ready to hatch, on hold until player comes nearby. speerman84
I simply do a seek and destroy on the spiders. If you get to them early, you can get rid of them easily without any help from pigs. After a few days and they start tiering up I simply recruit pigs for spider killing expeditions as often as they repopulate (I keep going after nests until all my pigs are killed). I usually have my world spider-free by day 30 or so. A spider-free world takes the worry away from spider expansion, which makes life that much easier... Critter79
I like to keep 2 nests around, on different areas, for silk. That's in case I destroy one by accident so that I never totally run out. Calamity0o0
The best strategy as far as protection goes is to set up your base near a pig village. If any dangerous monsters come your way, all you have to do is run through the village and the pigs will take care of them for you. This only works during the day since the pigs go into their houses at night. However, you run faster than any monsters in the game, so if you find yourself in trouble at night just run around until the pigs come out again during the day. And oops I realized I posted this in the wrong place but I'm not sure how to delete it haha, so this is just random advice i guess =P Edited December 31, 2012 by Calamity0o0 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/5759-question-about-spider-nests/#findComment-46655 Share on other sites
