XTheLancerX Posted July 7, 2015 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Okay, so two other friends and I would like to play Don't Starve Together. What would be the best way to go about buying it through Steam? The way things are set up and worded there sort of confuses me. So, first things first, is Don't Starve Together a standalone piece of software (that includes content from both Don't Starve and Don't Starve: Reign of Giants) or is it an expansion? In other words, would they be able to buy Don't Starve Together and gift the "extra copy" that is included, and be all set and ready to go? Or do they need to buy Don't Starve, Don't Starve: Reign of Giants, AND Don't Starve Together in order for us all to play and have all the content? I already have all three, and they don't have any. Even with the regular "Don't Starve Together" item to purchase in Steam is confusing. Right above it, it says "Buy this game as a gift for a friend" and right beneath it inside the item description, it says "Includes an extra copy of Don't Starve Together. Send it to a friend!" Is that item specifically a gift, or does it have both copies? The one to use and the one to send? Any help please? Reign of Giants is an expansion to only this version (it will not affect DST) Don't Starve Together is a standalone multiplayer experience that includes some elements from RoG. When you buy DST for yourself on Steam, it will put an extra copy of the game in your inventory to send to a friend. Your friends do not need to own singeplayer Don't Starve or DS: Reign of Giants. Yes, they can buy DST-only and will receive an extra copy of DST to gift to someone else. DST will be added to the purchasers Steam library immediately, and the extra copy will be found in their Steam inventory.
