I want both. I want to survive with my friends and kill random enemies who try to challenge me. My post seems like it's going out of hand and getting to the point where people are thinking I want some FFA survival game. Not true, I want PvE but the game needs to be balance with PvP in mind. I don't find PvE balanced because you can get away with being unfair with computers, otherwise known as the environment. Unfortunately, that doesn't work with players.

1. Balance an originally PvE game with PvP in mind? Well they can do a bit but they shouldn't divert their attention from the name of the game. They added PvP as an option just because some people would be mad if it weren't there (which I agree with, it wouldn't make sense to straight up have no PvP).

2. Could you please explain what you mean by being unfair? Like "abusing" a game mechanic? (If that's the case, such as...?)

Let me give you an example. Lets say you're up against a boss monster and you fight him with sleep darts and gunpowder, killing him easily. Now go attempt the same thing with a player and see how fast he'll register on the forums and start complaining. You can get away with this "cheap shot" with a computer because computers can't complain, but you can't get away with this when it's used against a player. This is just one imbalanced mechanic that PvE can get away with but PvP can't, but if balanced around PvP I could see both PvP and PvE benefitting from it.

Personally, I prefer PvE. I feel PvP would work better in a game where it's not a back and forth fight. I haven't played it, but I have seen what PvP is like (especially from people like Flare and TrueAlpha), and I feel that if I got the general idea from what I've seen, and am not interested in it. If people want to PvP, more power to them.

Catching up in this game is, indeed, not really smart mapped out. That's because Don't Starve's combat patterns were planned to give mobs repetitive attacks for players to understand so there isn't much unpredictability. This is kind of a problem for a competitive player environment, because human's actions have a fluidity, and because the movement isn't "organic" here, it takes forever to reach out someone.

Sprints would have the role of filling this gap a bit. Despite all this, there are ways to counterattack the methodical mobility, such as freezing the other person in place, or knocking him out with sleeping items. I can say that you sure need to take your time to get the items needed to simply smash faces (to the point that the whole process feels unnecessary for a quick fight), and maybe a superior alternative to this was forcefeeding - it wasn't mandatory to prepare a lot for a match with someone you don't even know if you will meet (anybody at all), and it added more strategy in catching up people.

There is place for improvement in both co-operational and competitive development. It will just take a while to get the vision down.
