Trenix Posted May 11, 2015 Share Posted May 11, 2015 What I like about the character...I like that Wilson can grow a beard and shave it so he can use his beard hairs to make meat effigies for his team and himself while also regaining sanity. His beard hairs can even be used as a fuel source for the campfire which surprisingly has the same fuel value as a log. An added plus is that Wilson can use his beard to survive the winter very easily. What I don't like about the character...I don't like the idea that he's labeled a scientist and does nothing scientific. Wilson's picture has him using some sort of poison to kill an animal, but he doesn't even do that in-game. I also don't get what his beard has anything to do with him being a scientist and why every meat effigy looks like Wilson. In wilderness mode, the meat effigy perk is useless for both him and his team because meat effigies do not exist in that game mode.SuggestionsAdd exclusive poison crafts for Wilson. In order for poisons to take effect, they must be ingested. This can be done by adding the poison to food and then eating it or simply drinking the poison bottle itself. The food idea would be a great way into tricking animals into ingesting poison or enemy players. Some examples...Poison of Toxicity - Causes poison damage for a short period of time.Poison of Paranoia - Lowers sanity for a player or transform an animals into their evil counterpart.Make meat effigies generic, so they don't represent any character. It's a bit unusual playing a character that isn't Wilson and making a meat effigy who looks like him. I think Wilson is where he should be balance wise, but I would be so down with him making potions/sciencey things. If they were to impliment something new I wouldn't want it to compromise his balance. Him being a scientist has been important lore-wise but not in the game so far. Shirsh Posted May 14, 2015 Share Posted May 14, 2015 No way, he do very-very sciency things all the time, he was absolutely no good in real world, but with Forbidden Knowledge he do it like a boss, every day and sometimes dozen times at day: most trivial thing is when he takes just 1 gold nugged, 4 logs and 4 rocks and with nothing but literally bare hand (and Scientific Gloves, ok) he easily creates incredible Science Machines for additional science! Not to mention Alchemy Engines, Wonderful Scientific Crockpots that cooks best dishes by themself! And many many other stuff. Only thing that (maybe) Wilson do more often as Science is Dieing. I've just recently found out that Wilson is pretty useless in survival mode being that meat effigies don't even exist in it, so giving him the ability to make potions would help him out quite a lot. I mean waiting 15 days just to produce 9 beard hairs as a fuel source for the team, sounds useless to me. I mind as well play Webber. I didn't played some time, true, but was sure it's here o_o It's be too efficientless, to create different crafting systems for other characters. Wickerbottom much better in science indeed, she is so Librarian. But it isn't put a shade on Wilson in any ways. Wilson is as much Gentleman Scientist, as much Guybrush Threepwood is Mighty Pirate! I didn't played some time, true, but was sure it's here o_o I've just checked, the Meat Effigy craft does not exist in Wilderness Mode. Surprisingly, the Life Giving Amulet does. Therefore Wilson will be useless in that mode, which I believe is the best mode for PvP. I've updated my original post with some new suggestions. After playing some more Don't Starve Together, I truly don't believe that Wilson is a balanced character when compared to the others.
