Suggestion for joining a game in Don't Starve Together

Recommended Posts

hello.

first of all the game is amazing!!!

i just love this game!!!

There is a problem with users that ruin your game and you can't do anything about  it.

so people open rooms with password because they are afraid of the one's that may ruin their games,

resulting in a situation that you can't join their world.

The problem is that you don't know those people and don't know the users inside the game  - you cant

ask them for the password and talk to them with steam.

My suggestion is that you could see the users who play so you could contact them

or when you try to join the room don't just prompt for password, instead give a button for joining request

and let the host decide.

Some people just want to play with a group of friends that they personally know and no one else. I'm actually one of those people because I'm trying to get familiar with the game before I do some PvP. I don't see how this feature would offer anything. People password their servers for a reason. I wouldn't want to be contacted in any other way because that would annoy me greatly. Just because you want to get into their password protected server, doesn't mean we should finds ways to breach someone's privacy. Sorry, but this seems wrong to me.

That's what the "friends only" server option could be for. I think OP is rather referring to people who actually play with strangers but passworded their servers to prevent griefers or bothersome folks. (Met the other players on the interwebs e.g.)

Still: The option to ask every server host even if it is a passworded server isn't the most elegant approach. There simply should be a banlist imo, so everyone in DST could slowly but steady sort out the unwanted people.

Btw does muting people on steam affect server joining? Anyone knows?

Edit: typo typo

You can already ban people and some people don't want to play with all of there friends.

I'm guessing why the person requested this was that most of servers are pw protected or the public servers are too crowded and almost unplayable due to lag or by any reason. Some people doesn't have friends to start with and only wants less people in the server at the same time. But sadly, there's no legitimate reason to implement this suggestion so all I can advice now is just bare with the public servers and make friends there and then have a private server with your own friends.

I hope this helps :)
