I've got a few ideas i'd like to throw in the ring and make the mods for, unfortunately i have no talent for the software it seems (Spent two days trying to make a character only to have the game crash everytime at character select). i'd like these mods MOSTLY for DST but i don't see why they could only be applied to that.

 

Anyways Here are the ideas:

-New Character -Winston The Pigman: High health, unable to equip torso clothing(Pigmen are large). Changes into werepig on fullmoons, and craps everytime he eats at full hunger..

 

-Hunter's Essentials - Several Items that would be useful for survival.Whetstones, Basic potions, Hot and cold drinks, Beserk and Barkskin seeds(Temp buffs to damage and defense)

Don't be discouraged, we all have to start somewhere! I think the key to success in game development is persistence. If you post your log.txt file from when the game crashed at the character select screen, someone here on the forums can take a look as see if there is something obviously wrong/offer some advice.

 

The log.txt file is located at C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\log.txt

I think i may have found the problem, but as to how to fix it im unsure. it keeps calling out :

[00:00:27]: ..\source\animlib\animmanager.cpp(429) :: Tried to add build [winston] from file [anim/pig_build.zip] but we've already added a build with that name!

 

I think it's because i'm just trying to reuse material from within the game. i just wanted the character to look like the Pigmen we have already in the game. i copied and renamed the Anim files to reflect that. i think i made an error somewhere however.

does this mean, that u just used the art and applied them to the character template?

or did u actually copy the build.bin and atlas-0.bin from the pigmen?(the later wont work)

if u did the later, pls just use the art from the pigs and apply them to a charactertemplate, i would suggest http://forums.kleientertainment.com/files/file/950-extended-sample-character/

otherwise pls attach your anim/winston.zip.

u mean the atlas from the pigs from the base game? no this will not work at all, charactertemplates and pigtemplates look completely different because they have completely different animations. just use this http://forums.kleientertainment.com/files/file/950-extended-sample-character/ then u dont have to worry about whats in the animfile anymore, u only have to edit the pngs and the game will automatically compile the rest.
