Teams!

I think having an option to have teams would be great idea and if you added someone to your team by pressing tab and there being a add to team button to add them to your team in the server, you'd be able to see their hp, sanity, hunger, but you'd be able close this said tab to make more room to see stuff on the screen, also people in your team would be able to share maps and show you where they are and what they are near.

Kinda sounds like a game-breaker though... it would make a good mod though

You could just add teams for PvP. Basically anyone in your team is treated like a fellow Don't Starver in a PvE game:

 

• Your teammates can open chests you've built; other players have to hammer them.
• You can't attack your team mates; you can attack others. 
• Your team mates can use your science machine/alchemy engine etc; others player would have to use one built by people on their team.

And so on...

Those are some things i forgot to mention but not the science machine/alchemy engine thing cause never thought it would be a useful thing.

Ghosts from people on the opposing team should only draining sanity from their own team, not everyone.
