I don't know if they PROMISED caves anywhere, myself. Honestly, the only feasible way for caves to happen without having some strange double-server setup that gets glitchy fast, would be to force all players to be at a cave entrance before it could change to the cave system maps. I think they discussed the possibility of all server members having to go in together, but that doesn't seem like the proper solution. We just have to wait and see. No but seriously, from what Klei's said in the past, it will be possible, but the thing is, a server can't have multiple worlds loaded at once.
