Where can I find a feature implementation timeline?

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to find a timeline for feature implementation.  Are the developers posting estimated arrival times?  I'm waiting for a lot of things to be brought into Don't Starve Together from regular Don't Starve.  When can we expect DST to feature things like caves, giants, dampness/dryness, overheating...?

First, you can track the updates and hotfixes here: http://forums.kleientertainment.com/forum/72-dont-starve-together-beta-developer-log/

Second, Caves will be very late to be added since the caves are buggy and it'd lag a server if you had 2 worlds running. Giants will be in sometime. Wetness/Dryness will not be in because it does 5 second tick to see water resistance and if the player is getting wet (raining, wearing a block of ice or the fashion melon, caves during spring) but it would do this for all players and can lag the server so it can't be added (but that's not to say if they simplify the files it's not possible). Overheating will also be in because temperature is in. All overheating does is go higher than 40 degrees Celsius (or 104 Fahrenheit)

@Cuthbert, There's no timeline for feature implementation or even a compilation of features that are planned. The main reason they don't do the timeline is that it would be really easy to set up false expectations with it. A compilation of planned features with a disclaimer about changes, though, might be nice.

I'm going to have to call BS on this. A 5 second tick to check water resistance and etc shouldn't be any worse than the much more regular ticks for temperature that the game is already performing.

Wasn't said by me, it was initially mentioned by Seth.

@Pyromailmann, This is the only post I can find that's related to that, and it's definitely not saying what you're saying-- he's just saying that doing range checks for umbrellas being shared (and this may extend to having the trees-as-shelter mechanic, too) are really expensive and may have to be tossed.

Hello, sorry for semi-offtopic but i don't want to open a new topic just for this. I see that there are no caves but are there ruins implemented? Me and some friends didn't played the original don't starve but we are hooked with multiplayer game, basically after we survive the first night and progress day to day nicely, what can be considered end-game content in the "togheter" version of the game? Thank you!

Okay good to know, thanks for the info Pyromailman and Rezecib!

It really would be good for the Devs to put out a list of planned features somewhere.  I figured that the final version of DST would be exactly the same as Don't Starve, but it sounds like the Devs have written off or expressed doubt about implementing some features?
