Blenok
Now i just started playing this game, and its fun and all, but its really irritated and annoyed when you die and random respawn somewhere on the map (PvP and wild) server. the most part that really makes me angry is when you have a lot of stuff on you and in your backpack, and suddenly you die from something, 1- you lose all your knowledge2- you loose all your thing and start from scratch3- you spawn random on the map, now I don't mind loosing all the knowledge I gained, but i do mind when i worked my butt of to build a camp than suddenly I died, and no idea where my camp is, Why? because I spawn randomly, the camp might be on the east side, north or near the river or etc... or when you die and loose your gears and you want your stuff back but you don't know where you died. its a pain in the neck. I dont mind in PvP, since its every man or woman for themselves. but other mode can really make people rage quit (i have done it) so here my main idea 1- If you happen to die you respawn on your camp that you build 2-if you don't agree on the first idea, how about if you respawn you have a mark on where your built your camp and where you died, like a skeleton on the map or a red dot or something, so you know at least where you are. any other ideas you have are welcome to share Thanks for reading Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/47181-mark-your-death-respawn-at-camp/ Share on other sites
Mysanthil
Have you played single player? When you die and have no way to revive (no ghost in single player, you have to wear the life amulet to revive with it, you have to find touchstones before you die to use them), you lose everything. Your entire world is gone forever. This is Don't Starve, and it is harsh. rezecib
@Blenok, Respawning elsewhere is the point of Wilderness mode. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/47181-mark-your-death-respawn-at-camp/#findComment-590728 Share on other sites
Redpine
This sounds like something that should be host configurable. Very good suggestion by the OP. In singleplayer knowing where you died doesn't matter, because either1: you're world got deleted2: you were revived by an item and still have a map, and probably remember where you died especially if3. you had a backpack on you, and the pack is visible on the map. DST is another beast entirely. Say you had 40 flint, 20 twigs, 20 grass tufts, 8 red gems and a Tentacle Spike when you died... that's a LOT of NON RENEWABLE resources that got dropped in the middle of nowhere, and unless someone can find it, the entire server - as in all the players - suffer as a result. If cause of death was hounds, the player might not remember where they died and be unable to give directions. I would suggest a map marker appears for the dead player first, and if he doesn't get his stuff within 5 days, the map marker shows up for all players to see. That way if the dead player rage quits, the invaluable items have a chance of being found. Now I know lots of people say "you'd be stupid to die with all that valuable stuff on you" try to remember that DST is not about the singeplayer, but the multiplayer. Everyone lives in an environment with newbies, greifers, and experienced players, on top of the usual DS bad luck (especially hound attacks). I don't think it an unfair advantage to inform players where to find resources that already exist - especially when the spot a player dies tend to be dangerous. And lastly, as I said, this sounds like the kind of option that should be host configurable. imsomony
You could play Survival Mode or Endless Mode instead of Wilderness. Then you'll just turn into a ghost, and need revival items to come back to life... which presumably are at your base, so float on over there. You don't lose your recipe knowledge either. If you were wearing a backpack when you died, it will show up on the map, so you can go back and reclaim your stuff once you've revived.
