Falketh
So im playing as wx-78 and so far I have survived the most I ever have 28 days atm but I fear it will end soon and I blame 2 things pengulls and my plan to take back my base. So Winter hit me around day 23 and at first it was going great I had a surplus of food puffy vest and rabbit earmuffs so I could go out and not have to deal with cold tell I had to go back. Then my traps started wearing out and it was around this time food started getting scarce my last harvest from my farms had just run out and my meat was running low. And now I get to the pengulls at first when I saw them I was off to destroy a beehive so I could start my bee farm operation in the spring however the pengulls set up in my base so the bees would not go far enough to start a war with them so after finishing off the bees and healing myself up I had a plan to take back my base which I named camp robbet and my plan to take back my base was operation flaming penguin as the name suggests my plan was to use my fire staff to set the penguins on fire thus neutralising them quickly and it worked but at a terrible cost. That terrible cost was the destruction of my backpack full of supplies my meat drying rack and my sign and the pengull colony is still there. All I got out of this was a few eggs and a drumstick and now a couple nights later my only real supply of food is monster meat from a recent hound attack and I think the deerclops is coming to pay me a visit from the sounds I heard I should be able to kite him to the beefalo heard not to far from my base but only problem is it is nighttime and my fire is pretty low so I fear the grue is what will end up killing me either do to the deerclops destroying my fire or one of those dark hand buggers coming out and extinguishing my fire so not only are the pengulls forcing me to migrate north(I think north is direction im going to head) they also probably killed me and wasted my touchstone which will probably just lead to another death from freezing on my way back to my stuff. Either way I hope people enjoyed my story. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/43414-pengulls-ruined-my-first-winter/ Share on other sites

SilverAura
Nothing takes a base back from pengulls better, while simultaneously getting both a nights supply of food and a few jet feathers, like a well place night time gun-powder brigade. Abenlen
Welcome to the forums, Falketh. I had a hard time reading your story because you didn't break it up into paragraphs. The "Wall of Text" things makes it more difficult to understand what you are saying. If you were to tap the enter key a few times you would probably be more likey to have people read and understand your whole post and give you their advice. The learning curve on Don't Starve is very steep indeed. I've died scores of times, and expect to continue to do so. It helps me to see every world as a temporary thing. Each death (hopefully) teachs me something, allowing me to survive just a bit longer in my next world. I've never specifically had a problem with Pengulls. They aren't agressive if you don't attack them first, and while they can be annoying, I find it easy enough to just ignore them. Do they specifically attack base structures? I know they spawn ice when they make landfall, which can be very useful in the summertime. If you really can't live with them, then take it as a lesson learned to try not to set up your camp too close to the shoreline.
