Issue Title: High ping when joining a game

Issue Description: The last few days, I tried to play Don’t Starve Together with my girlfriend. Everytime one of us joined the game of the other, the ping was over 120ms which made it almost impossible to fight more than one monster at a time. Will the servers get better over time or could be because of my location? I live in Germany and do not know where the servers are located. Or is there an option yet to open a LAN server so there is no lag? Or any hosters that offer a server for hosting? For further problemsolving, I added a DxDiag.txt file to this bug-report.

Steps to Reproduce: We were hosting a server and had a high ping once we joined the other’s game. The owner always had a ping of 0 ms and the other one a latency of about 120 ms and above.

If you're on the same network then you may not have a good enough internet connection to play two multiplayer games at once. Or if you're on different ones, one of you might have a slower internet connection, this isn't necessarily the games fault.

Thank you for your answers. If I host my own server, she will get a high ping afterwards. We play from different places and both of us have a ping of 120 ms and more. It was strange that we both have a ping of about 120, regardless who starts the server.

That's really not that strange. That just means you as far away from her as she is from you.

The ping is the reaction time from one connection to another, factors like distance, ISP, the type of connection (i.e. cable, DSL, fiber optic, T-1, etc), a wireless connection vs wired, all make a difference.

Your ping being a consistent 120Ms between each other has to do with a combination of those factors.

I would guess that besides the obvious factor: distance; one of you is also wireless.

The things you can do:

  1. Make sure you're both wired, wireless is inferior by default when it comes to gaming.
  2. Check pingtest.net and see what each of your pings is to your ISP, see if there's a significant high ping for one of you.
  3. If one of you has significant ping to ISP contact other local ISP's and see if one of them provides a better service closer to your home.

Things to work with it:

  1. Have one of you stay at camp and build up the farm. Plant food, cut trees, build things, cook food, trap animals, shave beefalo, etc. The other one can go travelling further to explore, and clear out any nasties.
  2. Once you both have enough protective gear THEN go hunting. :-)
  3. When you go hunting stay a reasonable distance apart, so if there's a horde, they're forced to split.

Thank you again! The problem is, even when she is nearby, the ping stays the same.

Thanks for all of your hints to increase the connection.

Even on other servers, the ping remains high.

We will try to fix it via cable connection, maybe it will work, but there does not seem to be a difference.
