Are klei still sending keys to the registrants every day? or they already finished? The game is pretty unstable at the moment so they need to take it slow with the distribution of beta keys. Only about 1% of the people who signed up for the beta application form got in so far. That being said, from here on out, they're all randomly given out. You could have gotten yours first, and he may get his near the very end. Be patient and don't starve! Meh from my experience I wouldn't say it is unstable as the game doesn't crash randomly, hangs or get some serious lags. I'd rather say it's buggy as hell. Just get as much bugs fixed and improved connection and the game would be perfect for more testers.
