MizYin
Bug Submission: Category: Client Crash Issue Title: Fatal Error after client crash Issue Description: The game crashed after creating a server, selecting Wilson, entering the world, and picking a few flowers, then picking a piece of grass. It did not give an error report initially, but instead showed "Don't Starve Together Beta is not responding" and then closed. Steps to Reproduce: Upon attempting to launch the client again to reproduce the issue, received fatal error "Steam must be running to play this game (SteamAPI_Init() failed). " Exited Steam, logged back in, error continued to show. Disabled firewall, exited Steam, logged back in, error continued to show. Verified integrity of game cache, exited Steam, logged back in, error occurred again, leaving me unable to reproduce the error. There also does not appear to be a .mdmp file in the Don't Starve Together Beta bin folder. Developer SethR Posted October 4, 2014 Developer Share Posted October 4, 2014 Have you tried rebooting your computer and then launching the game through Steam? We've seen this in the office when we launch the exe directly, but not when launching through Steam. MizYin
A reboot appears to have done it, good to know what thing to try for what issue, haha! It was the only thing I hadn't done due to the fact my PC can take a bit long to reboot, I try to save it for the absolute last troubleshooting step most of the time. the truthseeker
(Spreading the word with those who contact me outside the forums to reboot first. I hope this solves a lot of problems the retiring after hours of trying first wave testers had.)
