Catweaselcrow
Just wanted to share a some what humorous moment..... I'd had a couple of moles near my base, and they were pretty harmless, as long as you don't leave any minerals out. What I didn't realise was that they can also eat the Old Bell. As it was winter, I delayed making more chests in preference for keeping well stocked with firewood, so my Old Bell was amongst a few things I had just left lying on the ground. I wandered off to a stand of trees I'd planted nearby for charcoal, in order to make gunpowder in preparation for Deerclops, and I was a bit surprised when I felt the ground shaking.....day 27, a bit early for Deerclops......the next thing I see is Bigfoot descending in my general vicinity. I didn't get hit, but my base had been entirely levelled. Lesson learnt.....don't leave the Old Bell where moles can get at it lol.
the truthseeker
They activate it by eating the bell?! I'll take your word for it, not recreate this experiment, and always keep it away from Moles from now on!

Catweaselcrow
They "eat" it in the same way that they would grab a piece of flint or marble that you left lying around. When I returned to "Ground Zero", the Old Bell was lying amongst the devestation with 67% left on it - so one use gone. My base was pretty tightly clumped, so the one foot landing on the bell took out everything.
