supaprince
ROG release was just announced and I am pretty excited for next week. when I download the new DLC on Tuesday will the DLC automatically be introduced to my current saved game? i don't think that would be good because it would leave me vulnerable trying to figure out new things and possibly cost me my 300+ days of surviving. -- so i am assuming you will be able to go through the wooden thing in your current world and it will prompt you to activate the New DLC in your new world if you would like. that seems more feasible.-- how exactly is this going to Work? Gumhoy
You set the world as containing the expansion or not when you create it. So no, your current world will not be affected.Any world you create that is new however you can select as RoG or Vanilla Don't Starve before you go inside. so i am assuming you will be able to go through the wooden thing in your current world and it will prompt you to activate the New DLC in your new world if you would like. that seems more feasible. That is exactly how it will work. The game would not drop you into anything you are not ready for! That'd be unfair! Though be aware the game does get a bit harder in the DLC when you start a new world inside!I hope this answers your question.Good luck unlocking Wigfrid with experience in RoG worlds!Enjoy! spencer320
When RoG was released for the PC you had to start a new game to get RoG content. Going through the teleportato would still keep you in Vanilla, just a different World. I imagine it'll be the same for PS4. So once you get the expansion, I would highly recommend you playing out your 300+ day of surviving and starting RoG once you die. The reason I say this is because once you start a RoG world, you'll never play Vanilla again. So, you'll be using a save slot on a game (Vanilla 300+) that will be played again. Of course, I still have a save from Vanilla that I haven't deleted. I should but can't bring myself to do it. Learn from my mistake!! the truthseeker
Yes, since the only (stable) RoG Toggle is available when you create a new game (and as mentioned elsewhere, you cannot access in-game codes on the console,) this is available at this time only thorough a new game. It'll work pretty much the same way as the PC/Mac/Linux version. Because the new content is being created in world gen (basically when you start a new world), you'll have to start a new save and activate "RofG" in order to access the Reign of Giants content. If you're pretty far into your original Don't Starve save, you should still be able to play it even if you have Reign of Giants installed; that save just won't have Reign of Giants content in it.
