I'm new to the modding and forum community, so stay with me on this one. I wanted to make a mod for myself but realize I'm way over my head, so I'm putting this out there:

I'm tired of having to check every chest to remember where the heck I put my winter hat or my gold pick axe, or whatever, and I end up having two of a lot of things and, wouldn't you know it, no place to keep them, thus making more chests and so on.

So, I was thinking, wouldn't it be nice if we could have some sort of stylized chest (same object, different appearance) or even particular objects for clothing and tools/weapons?

Like a closet for all that's wearable, which could be in the structure tab, being made with spider silk and wood or sth like that. And have a special chest for weapons and tools, which could also be in the structure tab but have it be made with stone and wood, maybe even have it show you first the ones that are closer to breaking and "further" the ones that are brand new (if you're feeling adventurous :p)

TL,DR? Two different new structures/chests specialized one for clothing, one for weaponry/tools. (or just a re-colour, they have to be easier to tell apart)

If only they let you write things on Signs, that way you could put them on chests and label them making it easy to remember where things are just by checking the signs. (No sarcasm I dont think they let you change what's on a sign, all a sign does is set a map marker as of right now.)

It sure would save alot of production costs just doing that instead of drawing up new models for every last little individual kind of storage piece you would like. >.< Sorry but I have no skills and no interest in making this mod. Hopefully @Minik435 has your back though!

I always make a armory of sorts with 4-6 rows of 7 wall piece, and i place stuff between every wall piece.

that way it's easy to see what is where and you can stack an infinite number without needing more space...

I remember once, i had over 10 stacks of silk.

The only thing you need is to make a lightning rod first and then expand your armory in all directions.

I'm not sure I follow... could you post a pic?

I like the idea, the mod seems to kinda crowd the screen a bit? And I don't get it, if you use both mouse buttons for the labeling system, how would you open the chest?

Here

This is not a proper armory, but it's the exact same thing.

You can see i put stuff between each wall section, and when you move between each sections in a straight line you can be sure that the items form a perfect stack!

It takes little effort to place, organise and quickly find what you want! (:

Hope it helps you!

left mouse button obviously disabled for chests, read mod description for more info.

Okay, I won't do that in about... a week? My net is failing, there left some things to tide in new house, I'm joining building MC contest (only polish on one forum) and today is my BD.

Happy BD! ^^

There is a mod for writing on signs, and another that lets you write on chests, and another that lets you "paint" signs different colours.....
