Hudxesonael
So this idea would be based on having a multiplayer (2 vs 2, 3 vs 3, 4 vs 4?) version of the whole Adventure Mode (with probably modified maps or even brand new ones). There would be two teams and each would be placed on a separate but identical version of the generated maps (a fair and competitive environment). The goal would be simple - use the Teleportato before your enemies. The rivalry would take place on few maps in the 'best of three' system. Conclusion of the map and assiging a victory point would happen in the moment of activating the Teleportato or having the opposite team wiped out. Ideally this mode would use new, specially designed, big maps with RoG elements. Additional features of this mode:The Thing Indicator - graphic element built into the interface showing the progress (how many Things are in possession) of your and the enemy team. Ready?! Get set! Go! Many team compositions, many possibilities. Would you take Wickerbottom and equip your whole team with Backpacks at the very begining of the map? Would you count on late game stats of WX-78? Would you use brute power of the whole team to overcome obstacles or maybe split up and play in a more risky way hoping to save precious time. Finding Boons and sharing the findings between team members. Who would get the equipment and/or Blueprints? Good team coordination would surely be the key to success. Ridley
I like the race idea, however the one thing that gets me is Wes. I extremely want every character to be fine to play as in MP, just like single player. There is no reason for Wes when operating in a competitive team, as it will annoy your teammates when you can't be of much help. Wes needs some kind of minor minor buff that allows him to assist in someway. I was wondering how effective it would be if his mime tricks acted like a aggro magnet, so he could lure monsters away. Well Wes was always ment to be the character that allows you to have a more challanging game experiance. At least that's what the devs said in the past. They also said that there will be no multiplayer... ... Who knows. Will there be a rework planned for him in the future? Perhaps. I am not sure how this would impact this 'Race Mode' concept as the teams are assumed to consist of players determined for victory with some nasty tactics up their sleeves. Taking Wes would be a handicap. It's like adding insult to injury. Someone good might pick him just to 'rub it into your face'. I don't see a problem of trolling as the teams would be preassembled. Wes might just end up not being picked in most of the games. Its only going to endanger him more, and plays the hated mime card well. Using him to lure the robots away would be good for a hastey teleportatoe escape. Warden
This would be a fun little mini game mode that players could do by working together. Here's how I think each character would be helpful (put in spoilers because its long)Wilson would be able to provide other players with beard hair to build their own effigies and would be useful to go out and get supplies in Winter. I imagine Woodie would be able to bulldoze through enemies as the werebeaver if he is able to chop enough trees in rapid succession (probably by planting several trees together and letting them grow up) then team mates can scoop up his dropped items while he goes berserk on boss enemies or clockworks guarding the wooden thing. His team mates could also drop logs for him to eat while he tanks mobs. He would be out of commission for a while or so after he turns back into Woodie unless team mates could wake him up early if they got to him after he turned back. Wolfgang would also be a decent tankish character provided he is given enough food and so would Wigfrid, though their diets could be difficult to get past since Wolfgang burns through food quickly and Wigfrid only eats meat. Wickerbottom could create tier 1 items such as backpacks for team mates as stated previously as well as other items such as spears, so she could remain at the base and craft things while other players go off to gather supplies. Willow could be a little bit difficult since she has a habit of lighting fires at low sanity, but could save team mates from darkness or freezing to death by using her lighter to provide minimal light while they build a fire or set fire to a tree to warm them up if they lack a torch or materials to make one. I can't recall, but does Willow take damage from putting out smoldering things like trees or is she immune to it? Wendy could be useful by using Abigail to attack enemies I suppose, I don't have much experience with her since I don't play as her often. WX-78 could be useful later on as stated before if he gets enough gears, provided the team already has some ice boxes/ice flingomatics to put out fires and there are a few gears to spare. Wes could be bait as stated previously and be a distraction with his balloons Webber could be a great help with his army of spiders, but would probably need to be nerfed a bit for multiplayer. He would also have to keep track how long his spider friends remain loyal to him to have them avoid attacking nearby teammates when their loyalty wears off. His friends could also make nearby teammates lose sanity, especially if Webber has a great deal of spiders with him. Maxwell would be useful for spelunking in caves and getting resources or helping team mates by using his shadow puppets or gathering resources faster with them. I am not sure if it could be called a 'mini-game' mode after being introduced. I would gladly sink my teeth into it. Warden
That sums it up! I am not sure if it could be called a 'mini-game' mode after being introduced. I would gladly sink my teeth into it.I kinda referred it as a mini game since players have the choice of doing this certain game mode where they work together toward a common goal of reaching the end while there would be the base multiplayer game where players just do their own things with each other or on their own. I kind of had a mario party-esque kind of thought with it, though with Don't Starve its obviously a bit darker and longer termed. Either way its a good idea to have players team up with their friends or have it randomly choose players to work on Team 1 or 2/Red or Blue, etc. There should also be a scramble option where players on one team are randomly swapped with other characters on the other team upon completing the objective of completing the Wooden Thing (can be toggled on or off) to mix things up. This would be based on the player's preferences and wouldn't be a forced auto-balance kind of thing like on TF2 where you're forced to go on the team you don't want to be on. It would be for players who don't mind who they're working with, such as if everyone playing is good friends and doesn't really mind working with some of their other friends.
