Remodeling of combat.

Hello, I have a suggestion that I think would improve much the fun of this game. Forgive my bad English please, not my native language.

Currently the combat system is too simple system. It is not fun, nor challenging. the only strategy is to make small attacks and run away or maybe not even that, when you have good armor and high life not necessary. You're like a tank, attack and win.

I realize that the game is not about that and fighting is only one aspect more among many others. But also part of the experience and I think it's much improved

My proposal is simple, 4 combat actions, a new ranged attack mechanics and fatigue bar with that experience would be enhanced a lot and would add more complexity, dynamism, challenge and fun.

Let's start :

Fatigue Bar : This bar would consume using actions as " Dodge " " Defender" and " Attack Strong " , which could be regenerated. According to the character and hunger / life / insanity / armor that it can be more or less large . There are thousands of possibilities with this.

Dodge: A quick flip that would allow us to avoid imminent attacks, quickly moving away 1 to 2 meters of our position, for example, the "Space" key. Consume fatigue.

Defend: Simple, one button, maybe "E", with which we cover attacks that can not escape, could reduce 50% damage, for example. Consume fatigue.

Fast Attack: Basic Attack, not fatigue consumed, very fast but weak consecutive attacks, ideal for hit and run. Left Click.

Strong Attack: Attack much slower and consumes fatigue, but more harmful. Ideal to take the first blow to an unsuspecting enemy, or when stunned, to end fast... Click the right.
 
New ranged combat mechanics:This also would have to be remodeled, is now a simple automatic system. I suggest you opt for a manual targeted. Dependent on our skill in making the shots and allow us to dodge or defend against enemy attacks.

The shots would go in a straight line to where us note and if the target moves can fail, it could also defend, The same applies when the enemies will shoot at you of course.

Examples of Balance / New craftes / Other changes:

To compensate for the new shares should be changed many aspects of the current battle we have now. For example, power could be reduced to compensate for the armor that we now have the action of defense. Maybe make stronger enemies.

Changing patterns present enemies attack, for example, now if we run we can dodge almost all the enemies and avoid their attacks, now that we would have more options to deal with the clashes could acquire some enemies of the possibility of his attacks reach us but we run nonstop.

As we would have a greater chance of failing the shots I think ranged weapons I could take more on break.

Some enemies may be able to dodge or defend, but not all clear. Everyone should have a unique behavior.

Enemies with mixed ranged and melee ..

And thousands of options.

Could also be some new items, for example I can think of a bow, better light clothes to avoid or heavy armor that prevent us dodge and enhance the action of defense ..

In my opinion the game would improve much with a system like that, I see nothing excessive or complex for the type of game that is Dont Starve. And I would love it to be added in an update, DLC, mod or whatever it was.

Very in-depth idea, but Don't Starve really isn't supposed to be a combat-based game.  Wether or not you win a fight is (usually) based on how prepared you are, and a little bit of luck.  Being able to "dodge" and "block" attacks would, ironically, make things easier.  And, as a side note, it wouldn't really fit to have Wilson doing graceful flips and massively powerful attacks.

These changes would change the whole pace of the game. Many games with a detailed combat system are build around that system. The system used is a simply hit and run with some ranged elements and the usage of tactics like "let two enemies fight each other" and such.

The focus isn't on fighting.

So I think this wouldn't be appropriate for the basic game. But I think people would like a mod including this...if possible.
