I originally spawned on island 1… I have now set up a permanent base on island 9 (its got a HUGE beefalo herd there and quite a lot of rabbit holes). If I ever need to get resources I normally have to travel long distances so I have slowly been bringing them back to island 9 as I have progressed through each island (47 berry bushes, around 40 saplings, doesn’t show on the map but I planted a forest on island 9 with over 120 trees in. So I’m pretty sorted on all my resources by day 40 but this new update is going to put me in so much danger depending on how they implement Krampus and the spider queen. I avoid confrontation in this game (pretty much reflects how I am in real life to be honest lol) so I haven’t really attacked anything except maybe like 3 spiders in my whole game, whenever I get ambushed by hounds I let the beefalo or pigmen deal with them. The hellhounds normally only burn 1 tuft of grass when they explode on island 9 because I have put my forest, berry bushes and saplings right on the edges of the island (clever ;D ). Island 4 I don’t even want to explore its pretty much all swamp and I HATE those tentacles. I was thinking about getting some bee houses on my island and some effigies so I came to this forum ultimately to ask some questions as I don’t have much experience in this game. If I placed a bee house on island 9 with all the beefalo will the bees attack the beefalo or vice versa? Should I place my bee houses away from my camp area? Are pigmen easy to kill with a logsuit on and spear equipped (battle tactics would be nice to)? Blorog1 Posted December 10, 2012 Share Posted December 10, 2012 The bees would do best around flowers, so I would either make a bug net, get butterflies, and put them down on the beefalo island (Butterflies make flowers when you put them down) Or just go to a flowery place. And no, I do not believe bees attack other things.As to the pigmen I would suggest you get a hammer and bust their houses down to get pig skin and make a football helmet and that should be good combined with logsuit and a spear, but I would suggest a tentacle spike which is from those blasted swamp things. FatPanda Posted December 10, 2012 Share Posted December 10, 2012 Bees - No bees will not randomly attack anything, only when provoked (attacked or caught with a net) with the bees swarm. Make sure there are flowers somewhere on the island though or they won't make any honey. If you need flowers you can catch butterflies with a net and those will plant flowers wherever you set them.Pigs - Log suit is nice for extra armor although pigskin helmet is better so you can wear a back pack... in all honesty you can kill pigs with a spear and never take any damage as long as you kite them correctly. 2 hits with a spear kills a pig, if he's by himself you can just hit him fast enough he wont have time to react, however if a group is chasing you you can run away, turn swing at one, run away, etc... if you get used to it you wont ever get it, to be safe though if you dont want to die you can bring a log suit in case or build meat effigies since those resurrect you Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/3578-dont-starve-my-map-at-40-days-in-questions/#findComment-28849 Share on other sites More sharing options...

NeedPants Posted December 10, 2012 Share Posted December 10, 2012 Huh, looks like im not the only one that found beefalo on the very LAST island.. Roamed around for 14 days b4 i found them. THis is the 2nd map in a row this happened to me lol. I prefer to be near beefalo over being near pigs, since pigs dont give manure for free. Annoying vermin oinks at me too, with red capital letters saying YOU NOT PIG, and im like tnx mate, wish i could return the compliment, then he reponded: UGLY MONKEYMAN. I was deeply insulted. Beefalo just say moo, dunno what to think of it, i just say moo to u too.
