Deerclops destroyed the Dragonfly, but then got kill by the Moose right after. When he died, I noticed he dropped something new: It's called the Eyebrella. Not sure if it does anything other than keep you dry. Most likely will be craftable using the Deerclops eyeball when the giant drops are finished. I'm guessing that's (an instance of) what the devs meant with the giants currently dropped a complete item, but that later on they'd drop parts which you'd use to craft the item. So the deerclops should keep dropping just its eyeball (once the implementation of the new recipes is done), with the eyebrella being a new recipe using it. As @simplex said, the eyebrella will be craftable with the eyeball once when we get around to hooking that up. In the meantime, you should be able to use the eyebrella to make the houndius shootius.
