emerphish
I have many questions regarding food. I seem to never run out save for the worst time I can, like dying. I am currently living off killing butterflies after two deaths in the ruins. 1) I need more bees for boxes. I have wood and 4 honeycombs, but I don't know if I can capture the bees from my pre-existing two boxes/if they will respawn. 2) Is it more efficient to use fertilizers on my advanced farms, or does it matter? 3) How many flowers should I have, as in is there a cap to how fast the box will produce? 4)How much does your food go down per day, like how many points per day? 5)Honey ham or jerky? 6)Do I ever need to stop playing and eat irl? Strangerdanger101
1: Yes, they will respawn if you capture them. And you can catch bees from there.3: Yes, it can only have 6 honey at once.2: It does matter. It only takes TWO manure to grow a plant that was just planted to ready to harvest on the advanced farms. If you're desperate, just wait for it to grow the normal way.4: 75 or 65 or something like that if i remember.5: Jerky. Though it doesnt really matter unless you want a lot more health or sanity. But if you're REALLY starving and everything is going wrong just make the honey ham because you can make it faster.6: Only if you want to. spencer320
Bees will respawn after a day or two. So that shouldn't be too much of a problem. I use poo on my advanced farms a day or two before winter just to make sure I have what I'll need. Basically I'll have 2 or 3 advanced farms and maybe 5 regular farms after the first winter. I usually only keep 2 bee boxes and keep 12 to 15 flowers around it. Seems to work pretty well for me. I can harvest a full stack every other day if I need/want to. Hunger drops about 75 points a day. Here's what I do in regards to food. I like to keep a few meats in my fridge and put the rest on drying racks. Then use the jerky to make honey ham or meaty stew with a stack on stand-by for exploring and going out for extended times. I always thought the game was called Don't Starve for your character... Think it's more meant for us tho! The game is so addictive sometimes I forget to eat too! Zalyn
2) One thing I realized - if I'm just hording emergency dragonfruit and not regularly harvesting, regular farms are more resource efficient since it only uses renewables. At first I made advanced farms, but then decided to save my rocks for other things. Not sure if you regularly harvest or keep them around for occasional use, but it's worth mentioning. 3) Number of flowers is important. See: http://dont-starve-game.wikia.com/wiki/Bee_Box Basically, a single bee has to visit 6 different flowers in order to make one honey at the hive. So you need at least 6 flowers for one hive. If you have multiple hives, you probably don't need 6 per hive since the bees can take turns on flowers. But you probably want an extra 3 flowers for each new hive or something (I'm sure someone has a detailed equation for optimal honey production). Also keep in mind that you have to be near the hives (not sure exact distance, but within a screen or two) in order for them to be in "active" honey making mode. If you go far away, they go to an inactive mode and only make 1 honey per day. 5) I do both honey ham and jerky. If I have lots of honey and want more efficiency on hunger and healing, I use honey nuggets instead of hams. As was mentioned above, jerky can be later used to make honey meats (great for winter cooking). I don't think you are a robot IRL, so you probably should eat something. No monster meat, and I advise against eating red, green, or blue mushrooms. emerphish
Thank you. I have a non-food related question that is too small to merit its own thread. I had two deer eyes and a horn on the floor of my base as trophies, but they disappeared, and the tooth trap was sprung. It was not krampus, as I killed him the second he spawned, and he has only spawned once day 20, before I had any of that, and day 85, after I lost it. ButterStuffed
I'm pretty sure that monsters that eat food off the ground will try to eat the horn and deer eyes as the eyes and for some reason the horn are considered food. Well screw that, I'm spawning them, keeping them in a chest this time.
