Can you spawn The Screecher in vanilla with DebugSpawn?

And if so please tell me what happens. All my save slots are filled, and I don't want to risk it messing up one of them.

Not without hacking the screecher mod code. For the screecher to be spawnable, the mod needs to be enabled, but if the mod is enabled then regular gameplay is disabled.

It can be done, but I never tried it myself (I only did the opposite, playing the screecher mod as Wilson). My guess is it'll crash the game due to the player not having the components added by the screecher mod.

I see.

SILENTDARKNESS1 YOU LIAR!

Wait, would it be possible to put the components of The Screecher in the game without overwriting the actual survival part? Like, as in, all the components except for the ones that disable regular gameplay. Similar to that Screecher Camera mod I guess.

Maybe, but it'd take some work adapting them. There's one component controlling whether the flashlight is on and which direction it is pointing, one controlling whether the screecher is being lit by the flashlight and another controlling where and when the screecher appears (it doesn't actually move around, the game teleports it). If I recall correctly, these are the only truly essential components.

I see how some of these could be reworked.

-If the player is near any light source, act as if the flashlight is on. As to which direction it is pointing, i don't know about that one since every light in DS is radial.

-If the Screecher is near a light source that is near the player (Not like actually seeable, but just near it), act like the flashlight is on them.

-I suppose a simple "Make it appear randomly every 15 days" or whatever script could be made, but really I was just curious about DebugSpawning it.

Wait, the health system in The Screecher works much differently than in DS, right? So this might mean that the Screecher might not be able to kill anything for crap or would end up decimating a Deerclops with 1 strike. So that should be looked at.

Pun intended?

Since screeching is script that only works in The Screecher, and only ends game here, since the only end game in Don't Starve is dead then if you menage to spawn screecher in vanillla he would just stay still, or you will be frozen in dark screen after screeching is done.
