Beefalo herds and other herds

From the beefalo herd prefab:

Idea is to give some lifespan to herd creatures like beefalos, rock lobsters and any other animal crature that uses herd mechanics, so we don't get overcrowded with beefalos or other animals. Some beefalos could die of old age or sickness leaving some wool and bones, so we can crash the bones and get bone shards.

Rock lobsters could drop some gems or gold or other stuff that.

Something to stop the Rock Lobster infestation at least.

Perhaps instead of dying and dropping stones/gems Rock Lobsters at the end of their lifespan could instead petrify and turn into the type of Boulders you find in their rocky biome in the Caves that can be mined for stone, flint and gems (that have a chance of dropping meat?).

While I like the bones/wool idea for beefalo, this sounds awesome for rock lobsters. Then us intrepid explorers can brave the caves to tempt them up to create long-term rock farms on the surface.

Indeed, it's always nice when you can get the Caves/Ruins dwellers to impact gameplay on the surface, like how the Bunnymen are used as Spider/Bat farmers.
