Jiftyj Posted March 2, 2014 Share Posted March 2, 2014 Hi guys, today i finally found Maxwell's door, but it's the first time i'm gonna play adventure mode.I am not a noob, but i never wanted inside it, but now i think it's time. My first chapter is Archipelago where i am playing now, any tips?EDIT: I'm death.. But i won't stop until i win haha. I need your tips guys! And what is the hardest chapter (and why), and what is the easiest chapter (and why)? Thanks, Sorry for my bad english, i'm dutch. If you want further spoilers, I can give 'em (within reason), but the Wiki is also out there as well =) There are 5 chapters you must complete, plus an "epilogue". Of the first 4 chapters, your Adventure Mode will be randomly generated out of 5 possible worlds: Archipelago, A Cold Reception, Two Worlds, King of Winter, and/or The Game is Afoot. Your 5th chapter will always be Darkness. The worst chapter, by far, is Darkness. It's permanent night. Your sanity drains like crazy and food is scarce (it also won't regrow). Aside from prepping like crazy in prior levels, of course, the best course of action is RUN! RUN LIKE THE WIND! Find your Things and get out. The easiest would be either Two Worlds or Archipelago. Two Worlds has two islands, and you begin on the easy one. You have an over-abundance of food and materials. The days are long, the nights are almost non-existent, and you have a lot of time to craft and prepare yourself for your remaining journey. There will be 2 wormholes on your easy island, one is normal, and the other is sick. The sick wormhole is one-way. Either wormhole will take you to the second island, which functions with regular day/night cycles. Archipelago is cool because it has a total of 6 islands connected by (normal) wormholes, and each island is 1-2 specific types of biomes. As long as you remember how the connections work, it's a breeze. Just make sure you take care of spider dens near your wormholes and camp location(s), you don't need them growing and interfering with your plans every time you need to travel. Adventure Mode is fun, all the chapters present various challenges, and adapting your strategy to the world keeps things interesting. WhollyGhost Posted March 3, 2014 Share Posted March 3, 2014 I actually built the thing on a cold reception, took 11 days, and wasn't tough, granted I died after building my way out bc I wanted to build a walking cane and didn't pay attention to my health, sucked, but it wasn't hard. Keep a trap w you and capture frogs, food won't be a problem, have an abundance of grass for multiple backpacks so you can drop one when crossing bridges against pig guardians...KoW is the biggest thorn in my forehead!!!...winter just sucks!!!...and when you get what you need to get by here comes deerclops to run you off searching for penguins, or a large amount of spider nests to help chip off his HP...and don't forget your heat stone loses heat, and he doesnt stop at night for rest...I dread KoW... DrPoppycock Posted March 4, 2014 Share Posted March 4, 2014 King of Winter can be pretty tough (especially if you get it right off the bat!), but it is a great opportunity to craft a walking stick and get a Tam O'Shanter.The final chapter is always the toughest - just be sure to bring as much beef jerky as you can, and your walking cane and you should have a fighting chance! I imagine it would be BRUTAL right off the bat. Tip for KIW: dig up grass, saplings, and mushrooms. None of them will regrow, so you may as well use the plants for fire fuel and gain the extra mushrooms for sanity bridges. Cold reception is super-annoying because of the frogs, but otherwise is a fairly easy level. Tip for the frogs: wait until you have a good amount that have dropped, hit one, then lead the whole pack that's chasing you to another mob, like Beefalo or pigs, and run around a bit until the frogs stop chasing. Beefalo won't attack them unless they attack first of course, but when they go into heat, it's all war and free food. Pigs will attack on sight. Doomfan64 Posted March 4, 2014 Share Posted March 4, 2014 I reccomend that you get the All Is Not Lost mod, so that Adventure Mode isn't crushingly hard. In the vanilla game, when you die once, you have to restart the entire adventure mode from the first world. But with this mod, when you die, you just restart from the world you died on. Did it sound like this? If so, that's the fight music. Whenever you try to kill a creature in battle, music plays, and then fades away when the fighting is over (either because you killed the creature(s) or ran away from the battle).
