Don't Starve DLC Possibility

Recommended Posts

So this idea just came to me about 30 seconds ago while browsing the forums. No joke, just now. So please forgive me for it's crude development.

What if Klei did a DLC titled "Adrift" or "Marooned." The premise of this DLC would be that you could build a raft or some other craft and set yourself adrift in the hopes of finding another island. This could involve mechanics of survivng while adrift or while marooned upon another desert isle. I'm sure we can all agree this provides a plethora of sanity issues as well.

Well, again, it was just a sudden and ill conceived thought, but I figured I would share it.

P.S. I've also drank a few beers, so forgive me.

I guess I did not make it clear in my original post. This is not a method of just finding a new island per se, although It could be used as such.

I was thinking stand alone features of being lost at sea. Don't Starve is about surviving with what you have, what you can find and what you can create from those things. Being lost at sea could be similar. You have very little resources when you shove off, but maybe you drift to an (small) Island here and there where you decide to pauses and gather resources (these can be randomly generated). but those are finite and you have to move on. There are also aspects of being at sea (e.g. catching fish, making nets, collecting water, avoiding insanity, etc.)

..and that's when the unholy spawn of Nessie and the Kraken leaps up and tries to sink your dingy little raft? Just think of the potential for sea mobs! This could, theoretically, give the moon cycles more importance. I know that tides are affected by moon phases, which could result in needing to prepare for violent waves attempting to capsize you from time to time.

The one problem I have with this is that it would make it so the Teleportato gets even less mileage than it does already. What would keep this from making the Teleportato completely obsolete?

I also had the same idea, though I made it into a mod collab and not a suggestion. Needless to say, the idea didn't float. Though really, I like this idea a lot. Even though I find myself unable to NOT bring up the fact that I came up with it first, thus making myself look extremely arrogant.
