Do pigs always become werepigs when one enters a cave?

First of all this was written on a phone and so pardon any errors I may make because I cannot see what I am writing.(damn keyboard)

So it is day 122, longest I've survived yet, and I decided to go caving. I amass an army of werepigs when I notice, as soon as I enter, they aall became werepigs. As there was a worm invasion ongoing, I ended up with a crazed werwpig horde and 6 worms on my arse. How can I avoid this, as I used a ton of monster meat for those pigs, not to mention that in addition to worms and a tier three spider den, there are 6 werepigs to top it off, and has discouraged future caving for me. What can I do?(besides risk adding more pigs, which I am unwilling to do.)

I meant army of pigs, not werepigs. Can't edit cause of phone.

it's most likely due to the game trying to Sync caving with above ground time. I'd report it on this topic if it always happens

Turns out the pigs were bugged, as I found them sleeping, as if they had become werepigs the previous night. The cave seems to be a full day backwards, resulting in them becoming werepigs. I still have no idea what to do, as there seems to be a spider queen at the bottom of my cave too. My only strategy shall be to tame pigs, bring them down, and then gtfo. I will rinse and repeat until I can make a safety wall or something.
