Survival Mode: Why changing Worlds?

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

I was wondering what use it is to change Worlds in Survival Mode when you start at day 1 anyway?

I know you can bring things with you and the craftings you unlocked are still there in the next World, but if the aim is to survive as long as you can I am not sure about putting the things together to go to a new place. Any ideas?

Thanks!

The most useful reason to switch worlds is to renew non-renewable items such as Gears, Thulecite, certain Gems, Mandrakes, Honeycomb, Turfs and so on. Beyond that, if you simply don't like your world (poor central location, overrun with Marsh, etc.) then you are provided a legitimate way to generate a new one. Finally, a small sub-section of players find enjoyment in resetting their world as quickly as possible to reach higher world numbers, so there can be a personal achievement tied to the process.

In my opinion there is no significant or required reason to switch worlds; rather, it is an alternate option to allow for expanded gameplay. If you don't want to start over, you don't have to.

Actually, if you leave for a new world, it resets both the Hounds and Depths Worms wave count also, so that's another plus if you don't want 5+ every wave and want to start with just 1-2.

But as noted, it's mainly used to renew non-renewable resources and to start a new world with new resources while also carrying what you can carry, including pre-built structures! That pre-built tactic (while not true with inventory limiting you to four slots) can also help you with certain Adventuring worlds....

I just tried this 200+ days in and the hound and Depth Worm count did not reset! I ended up dying because of this, so I shouldn't have switched worlds, but if this were true I could definitely see the upside to completing a world.

It does for me and others. Stupid question, but is this on a console?
