I literally cannot explore an area of the map in winter because of this. But you can use this over spawning to your advantage, just place 3-5 spider dens next to the igloo in summer so when winter comes you have 3-5 tier 3 spider dens. The PC has updated this quote a while ago (months) simply by you making sure you have the latest update allowed on Steam or Standalone Chrome was Retired, and updating to another platform is a separate subject (oh, and on any platform, it's not a pirated version of course.) I do see this thread shows some people have gotten this again though. However, it is not everybody who has this problem. Back up your save folder and see if uninstalling and reinstalling and reupdating helps though. The PS4 console should be automatically using the latest version, if not, see below. Secondly, these topics if you have problems go on this thread zone, not general. RobertinBham Posted January 16, 2014 Share Posted January 16, 2014 I had the same issue in a new world I started this week, I even had two igloos next to each other which spawned together about 20 hounds. I used the previous mentioned idea of planting spider nests beside the igloos, but I only needed to plant one nest by each igloo to thin out the hounds to acceptable numbers. I placed the nests close enough that their web radius overlapped the igloos during the summer to let them become tier 3 by the next winter. after doing this, it was 50/50 if the hounds or spiders won, but even if the hounds won they were in such small numbers that they were easy to deal with. It's still a problem in the latest version. I have the latest version but the bug is still somewhat occurring. I went to ill Mac'Tusk to kill him for his hat and found 4 hounds with him instead of the usual 2. So I got lucky that time but I'm pretty sure at some point it's going to happen again. Which now that I've been reminded, I need to remember to plant some nests near his igloo. Be as detailed as to what you did when you first encountered the area and later if you revisited the area and saw this (if it didn't happen immediately when you first arrived.)
