I'm wondering how he encountered this demon and if it will be a final boss in the story mode that they mentioned in the road map. Do you think the guy you encounter when you first start a new game.. is the demon?

I'm guessing maxwell plays a huge part of the stroyline when it comes out. He is some form of a demon/magician. On that matter who is maxwell to wendy? I don't think he would be the final boss though.

I've seen the theory going around that each character was placed there as punishment for some terrible thing they did in the past, and to escape, they have to find some way to redeem themselves. That's just a theory, though.

I don't know if it was ever directly confirmed that Maxwell was the demon mentioned in the game's description, but it seems quite likely that he is, and he will almost certainly be important to the overarching plot.
