Plutarque
Hi,I just downloaded the game from humble bundle using the torrent link. It seems some files in the zip archive are corrupted (not all) : When I try to unzip the archive in console I get the message :" error: invalid compressed data to inflate" And then :file #197: bad zipfile offset (local header sig): 12219129file #198: bad zipfile offset (local header sig): 12221935(snip)file #255: bad zipfile offset (local header sig): 29157207 The archive name is:markoftheninja_mac_29_1379628609.zip The torrent hash:aaa2fffc809431e14aa530f28568e2eb743fb2eb The local md5 sum I get is :030267bda16bfe758a5f7b2d55a9abb8 The tool provided in my torrent client to check data integrity doesn't find anything wrong. Thanks for your advice
hilko
I have the same problem. I tried both the torrent and the direct download, and I tried unzipping from the terminal and using multiple apps. No dice! (also Humble Indie Bundle for mac)
ROEH
I can also corroborate the original poster's claim. I have attempted multiple times to download the file via conventional http download methods and via a bit-torrent client. The archive file that is being distributed for the Mac Platform via Humble Bundle 9 is corrupted. Hopefully we can receive a response from Klei or Humble Bundle soon. Best Regards, ROEH P.S. I notified the Humble Bundle team two days ago, though as of yet they have not replied, barring the canned auto-response and support #.
SimonM
I too am having this problem. I was able to successfully unzip the archive using The Unarchiver, however, the game crashes immediately upon launch. I'm keen to know if this is due to corruption in some of the unzipped files or some incompatibility with my system (e.g. I'm running with Intel HD 4000 graphics). Cheers,Simon
smls
The local md5 sum I get is :030267bda16bfe758a5f7b2d55a9abb8 The Humble Bundle site lists the same md5 for the Mac version, so it's not a download problem on your end.I can't help you further though, because I don't have a Mac... hilko
I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the archive, and not the system, as all methods of unpacking it give errors to begin with, and the resulting ninja.app doesn't have an icon and closes right after running. hilko
Could someone get back to us? I don't expect a solution in 24 hours necessarily, but some feedback would be nice.
Developer Wade Posted September 23, 2013 Developer Share Posted September 23, 2013 Hmm, okay, the archive was opening and extracting properly on our end. I'll upload another version to Humble though, just in case.
Plutarque
Thank your for your answer. I tried to unzip the archive on a x86 computer with linux installed.Same problem. This tends to dismiss the hypothesis of an os x bug.
Developer Wade Posted September 23, 2013 Developer Share Posted September 23, 2013 The new archive should be posted now on Humble. Please let us know if you have any trouble opening the new archive.
SimonM
The new archive should be posted now on Humble. Please let us know if you have any trouble opening the new archive. Awesome! I can confirm that the archive successfully unpacks on OSX now and that the game launches. Thanks!
Plutarque
Hi I downloaded the new archive (markoftheninja_mac_29b_1379978801.zip) There are 2 more problems : Problem 1:I had to enable execution permissions on the binary to make it working with following command : sudo chmod +x /Applications/ninja.app/Contents/MacOS/ninja Problem 2:The game crashed in the level 3 "The trail of the shadow" when I encountered the guard next to the lock-picking door. @WadeI admire your patience and your quix fixes. The part of the game I was able to play sofar was great but I'm done with beta testing. Porting games is certainly nightmarish.Keep the good work ! lasernz
An alternative is Steam which you can obtains the keys from the Humble Bundle page if you are that way inclined. I gave up to Steam before @Wade posted the updates though. Thanks !
JanH
@lasernz is correct! In addition to the Standalone client download link, your Humble Bundle 9 download page should also allow you to redeem Steam codes that will allow you to play Mark of the Ninja on Steam.
