[Tool] Don't Starve Saver

'Don't Starve Saver' utility allow backup game saves and then restore it.

 

How to backup Save:

1. Unpack & launch utility.
2. Locate Save folder (if necessary).
3. Play 'Don't Starve' game.
4. When you need to backup Save, do 'Save & Quit'.
5. Switch to utility and press 'Backup Save' button.

How to restore Save:

1. Quit 'Don't Starve' game.
2. Select Backup from the list.
3. Press 'Restore Save'.

How to delete Backup:

1. Select Backup from the list of the backups.
2. Press 'Delete Backup.

Tested on:

• Win 7 SP1 x64 / Win 8.1 x64.
• Don't Starve: v1.90423 (Alls Well that Maxwell)(2-click run) / v1.98986 and RoG DLC

I noted that you are Testing on Win 7 SP1 x64, when I run on Win 8.1 I can't seem to create a save directory or point it to the default save directory.  Says....  "save dir not found...."  no matter what folder I try to use.  If you get around to looking at this tool on Win 8 would you mind making a comment here so I can check this out, looks to be a very helpful tool for securing saved games.

I made some modifications in the utility related to the save directory detecting.

I checked utility on the Windows 8.1 x64 with the Don't Starve pack v1.90423 (Alls Well that Maxwell)(2-click run). It works fine for me.

 

Please download utility and try again.

I don't have yet RoG to check it.

But I suspect that it should work, because DLC changed gameplay, not the application algorithms.

I'm not saying this is a virus, and in fact there isn't any indication it is, but it is against Klei's policy for there to be posts in the forum of programs in binary form without the corresponding source code.

I added source code together with binary. Hope it agreed with Klei's policy.

Finally, I got ROG!

Utility works fine as I expected. Checked on Win 7 SP1 x64 with Dont Starve v1.98986 and Reign of Giants DLC.

Where do I locate my save folder? 

I have Steam release. Win 7... if it helps.
